Don't do it !!!!! You WILL end up in collections, even if you pay what they say you owe after moving out

My fiance and I cleaned the apartment when we moved out so well that you could have eaten off of the floor. We left it MUCH cleaner than we found it. We moved ALL the appliances and swept and mopped (which I don't think that this was ever done before because there were toys and things under them that did not belong to me), we even waxed the dull floors. We cleaned the walls, baseboards, window sills, blinds, cupboards (inside and out), tops of the doors, cleaned the carpets, etc, etc, etc. We even repaired the nail holes (so they wouldn't have to). We not only DIDN'T get our deposit back, they charged us $100.00 for "general" cleaning (I don't understand, there was nothing left to clean). In the end we got a bill in the mail for $55.00 (in addition to the $250.00 deposit that I paid when I moved in)stating that we had to pay within 2 weeks or it would go to a collection agency. To save my credit I paid the $55.00 right away. I physically took a check to Adagio and "handed" it to Debbie in the office. Well low and behold 2 months later I got a letter in the mail from a collection agency for $56.48 (interest included). I checked my bank account and the check was cashed by Adagio 2 days after I gave it to Debbie. Ummmm, why am I in collections' I called Adagio and they are not returning my calls. I am not very happy. I guess I will chalk this up to a learning experience and suggest that you do the same and learn from my mistake. Hind sight being 20/20 if I had known that they were going to charge me a "general" cleaning fee, I would have just done "general" cleaning.
