Crystal bay went under new mangemnt two years ago. I lived here for almost a year and a half and I was enticed by several office people who sold me the moon and stars telling me things were going to replaced and fixed upon move in. I was told I would receive screens on my one window, new counter tops and a washer and dryer. My tub had to be surfaced three times as it was done incorrectly. My locks had to be fixed four times. My first week at CB I was introduced to my downstairs neighbor because my new dishwasher was installed improperly. It was leaking thru my neighbors ceiling into his kitchen. Also in my first week my stove caught fire because whomever cleaned it did not get the cleaning residue off of the stove before I used it. I was told new counter tops and after my year and a half never received them. They touched up a wall and somehow painted the rug in three different places. The decks were made to be impossible to clean with a textured surface that they said they would pressure wash but did only once. There is mold in most homes that was never dealt with and several residents were asked to move into two bedrooms that they could not afford, which was designed to get these people evicted from there homes without actually evicting them. there is only one window in the studios and it is right above the heater which makes your electric bill higher and each building has only one meter so you pay the same amount as the two bedrooms even if you are in a smaller unit. There is heavy drug use on-site by both managment and residents. before I left there was a hypodermic needle and a crack pipe near the D-units on two seperate occassions, that children found and or stepped on on two different occassions. Ask for a report from the Des Moines Police and you will get several pages of calls for violence and fighting in the streets. There was one stabbing and various domestic violence cases in my own building. Four cars have been jacked in the last three months, mostly due to a giant hole in the back fence that Xzenia, Apartment Manager, lied to residents to fix and realizing the cost won't fix. The hole connects two apartment complexes and makes it easy to traffick drugs and get eveicted tenants back on our property which the manager is scared to deal with. The cabana and ammenties are amazing but rarley open. They did have a Cabana attendant for a while but she left shortly after being hired on. Unless you love drama, don't mind people parking in your designated spot and are into drug abuse I strongly suggest that you move ANYWHERE else in this city than Crystal Bay Apartments.

Just because there was a hole in the fence doesnt mean that thy cant walk around the fence if it was fix. ( DAAAAAA)
