I moved into Highland Village in 2002, I left happily in 2005. During my residency, I experienced a management change about every 6 months. They couldn't keep them around to handle the people who were living there. They're were several kids/teenagers out of control, constant drug bust, vandalism to the grounds, and cops were frequently called for various reasons.
I was proud of my apartment and kept it very very clean, received constant compliments for my gardening, christmas lights, and home decor. In the time frame of my stay, they removed the security gate, got rid of the exercise room (due to vandalism)and started to charge for the covered parking, security was not coming around, there was no on sight manager for any issues after office hours. A child almost drowned in the pool due to lack of the management enforcing parental supervision at the pool. There were two apartment fires both arson. With all of this, they wanted to raise my rent!!! Yet new tenants were moving in for less' Whats up with that. So I found a house, for my kids and I with in the same price range of what I was already paying and moved out. When I moved, I cleaned my apartment because I wanted my desposit back. Most tenants when they moved out of there, just moved. The manager refused to go through the apartment with me, so I just left. I had no worries. Well 2 weeks later I get my move out sheet. Couldn't read it, but they were charging me $100. When I called for an explanation, the management wouldn't explain to me what the charge was for. I wanted my $100 ( i had a $200 refundable deposit, $200 non-refundable) she basically wouldn't explain. OUt of frustration, I hung up, although she owed me, I was happy to be out of there. Well here it is 2 months later, I get a letter from a collection agency wanting more money for Highland Village. I can't believe it. I'm getting a lawyer!!! Basically the apartments them selves are nice, with proper management, who can actually enforce they're rules for everyone, the place would be nice. I'm disappointed at how unfairly they treat the tenants. My disappointment comes from having faith in their system.
