Great deal and close to everything!

The last review just trashes this place. I must say that I?ve found a lot (but not all) of what that review said to be untrue. At least not since I?ve been there.
Parking: ...is no problem; yes, a tow truck makes it?s rounds every now and then, but as long as your car is on file, you?re fine.
Noise: I?ve not had any experience with "paper-thin" walls. You can hear peoples stereos or loud conversations at times, but I haven?t experienced anything unacceptable. The walls at the place I used to live let a lot more sound through. Hearing other peoples? occassional noise is part of apartment living.
Laundry: I haven?t had my clothes taken out of the machine, but 4 washers and 4 dryers per 3-floor building is not that much. I?ve rarely found them all in use, though. My real complaint is that the dryers never dry anything in one cycle. A sign in the laundry room warns that this will happen if you overload the machine, but I?ve experienced this with a pair of jeans and a couple shirts. Bottom line is $1.00 to wash and $2.00 to dry.
Security: I?ve never encountered any security people in my time here. Exterior security doors are usually locked, but I have found them propped open from time to time. Windows into the common stairway areas are always open for some reason which defeats the purpose of the locked doors and makes it damn cold in the hallway. I?m not too worried though; I?ve lived in worse neighborhoods with a front door directly to the outside. And just to note, the lights in the hallways have been replaced with very bright flourescent lights just in the past week.
Residents: Everyone I?ve met here has been at least courteous. I don?t know what the last reviewer was talking about concerning loud parties and drunken people all over the place. Maybe they got evicted' I don?t know.
Staff/Management: Everyone I?ve dealt with in the office has been outstanding. People who take genuine interest in treating their tenants well. They remember your name without having to look in a file. Either the last reviewer got this one TOTALLY wrong, or the current staff are different from those that he/she had to deal with.
Neighborhood: It IS right on Highway 99, which turns into Aurora Ave N when you hit Shoreline only about 2 block away. Not exactly what I?m used to as far as residential areas go, but it?s okay. Smaller, quiet neighborhoods in Edmonds or Mountlake Terrace lie on either side of the 99, but the 99 itself is very busy. My biggest gripe is that it takes forever just to turn out of the driveway, especially if you?re turning left! The particular building I am in (there are four altogether) is set pretty far back from the highway. In fact, none of the buildings are very close to it, as the front parking area takes up all the area next to the street. Traffic noise is not an issue in my apartment - I just don?t hear it. There are plenty of busineses of all kinds around here. Safeway and Blockbuster right accross the street, along with a coffee shop, bookstore and some restaurants. 7-11 is a short walk up the street which is convenient. Just a couple blocks away is a "big box" center with Costco, Home Depot, Kinko?s, RadioShack and many other retailers. I also hear that Krispy Kreme is opening up not too far away in Shoreline! Mmmm... doughnuts!
Proximity: 15 minutes from everything! Downtown Seattle and Everett are about that far away on a good traffic day. Rush hour times are about double. Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood and Northgate Mall in Seattle are both short drives. Obviously there?s good access to Highway 99, but I-5 is just around the corner. The Northern I-5/I-405 interchange is a couple minutes away, which provides easy access to the Eastside without having to go through Seattle.
Rent: I live in a 1-bed 1-bath. The cost is less that most others in the area, perhaps due to the Highway 99 location. The apartment itself is slightly larger than another I looked at about 2 blocks away that was going for about $100 per month more. The rent speacials are very unique and the absolute the best thing going! The special that I got was the thing that made my decision to move in happen. Unbeatable.
Other stuff: There is a pool and jacuzzi, but I?ve never used either, so I can?t give an opinion on those. Other places offer things that Pacific Park does not, like fitness centers and tanning booths, but I probably wouldn?t use those things either.
Overall: I?d recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable place to live, with the only major compromise being that you would live on a major highway. Other than that oddity, it?s not much different than anything else I looked at in the Edmonds area in the general price range.
