The good and the bad...

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2004
I've read most of the reviews for here, and I will admit there are some ligitimate complaints, and then as always there are just some complaints... Here is my opinion/experiences from the past 4 years living at Pacific Park. I'll be doing it in reverse order, bad first then good...
1. Ants. Yes, there is an insect problem with ants. I lived on the 3rd floor, and I still got ants that did climb in through some of the oddest places. Side note: I'll take the little baby sugar ants every 3 months over cocaroaches, water bugs, or pretty much any other insect out there. They're harmless, and the easiest way to remove/prevent them is to do what you should do... Keep your apartment clean, take out your trash, and call for the professional exterminator. One other issue with the ants... In order to more effectively remove them, the entire building would have to be evacuated and tented for several days... that's approximately 45 apartments, for sugar ants...
2. Garbage dumping. I live on the 3rd floor, and it's a long enough walk for me to get to the bottom of the stairs, let alone all the way over to the ONE area that has a dumpster/compactor. The compactor was a good idea, but I think it should have simply been in addition to the previous "dumpsters" we had.
3. My fellow tennants. My last true complaint about Pacific Park is that somehow it seems like just because rent is not outrageously high (especially when you compare the square footage of the apartment with other places and what they are charging.) some of them feel that they can treat the place like something "less". On the bright side of things, I hear reports of police and "undesireable" behavior from the apartments across HWY 99, than from Pacific Park. Security has/does patrol on a regular basis, but to my understanding it is only at night because the office is "manned" durring the day and the apartment manager and assistant manager are responsible to handle those issues.
To address on inaccuracy stated previously about the carports... The city had approved them after all the required utilities came out and marked everything. It wasnt until shortly after that, when the city came back and said that the carports had to be moved because one of the lines surveyed was found to be incorrect. I would like to make it clear that the appropriate city and utility did the assessing, not the maintenance personnel of Pacific Park. Ruining the view of the parking lot... Not too sure that would be a very impressive sight any how...
The good.
1. The reason why I sayed for as long as I have is because the managers went as above and beyond for me every time. I am indifferent to the maintenance staff, since I have had little need to interact with them. If I wasn't having possible issues with employment in the coming months I would stay. If I do find my job is secure again, and/or I get another job that affords me to move out, I'll be looking at Pacific Park Apartments as my first and best choice.
2. Convenience. I could (I'm lazy so I don't) walk to get most of my grocery shopping done. There are many other close-by stores that can supply the rest of what I need. Plus, entertainment, good restarurants, and it's not even that far from the beach...
3. Nice grounds, not ignored at all. I wouldn't know about being on the first floor when they come by, but most of the time they wake me up at about 9:30 - 10:00am ish, and are done just before I head off to work.
To be honest, there are some good perks, and some perpetual "little" things that can drive people crazy... As long as you can live with some of those "little" things then definitely come on over and move on in.
