I LOVE this place

We moved to Park 212 in June of this year (2008), and I have to say that this place is wonderful. The staff was super friendly from the get-go, even offering advice on how to handle our previous landlord (who was a total slimeball). During the walk-through, the Assistant Manager did a more thorough inspection than I would have ever thought to do -- she had our shower curtain rod replaced because there was a small spot of rust, and she wrote down every little ding and scratch, even stuff I didn't notice. There were a couple of little things that we turned into maintenance, and it was all done the next day. They even have a little online form thing you can fill out so you don't need to go to the office to fill out the request form.
Other perks:
-The Edmonds Park and Ride is right in front of the complex, and there are direct buses that leave there to DT Seattle and the University of Washington, so commuting is super easy. -We have a washer and dryer in our unit. Not all units have washers and dryers, but there's a laundry room in every building. -Dishwasher :) -Pool, Hot Tub, Tanning bed, playground, BBQ/picnic table area next to the playground, Patios/balconies, great landscaping, some kind of courts on the other side of the complex that I've never seen anyone in. -TONS of parking. Seriously. Each unit could probably have 5 cars, and there would still be plenty of visitor parking. All the parking is free too. -The complex is in its own cul-de-sac, so there's no through traffic, just your neighbors. -A private security company comes through several times every night to make sure everything is alright. -Nice layout to the apartments.
I read other reviews talking about the hallways. Yes, the interior halls could use some color, and the lights are pretty yellow, but if you live on the first floor, chances are you'll never go into the halls -- we use our slider as our main entrance unless we're getting pizza delivered. And really, even if you lived on a higher floor...you're not living in the hallway, you're living in your apartment, so it's not that big of a deal. It also sounded like the people who complained about the halls were from out-of-state, so they didn't get a tour before they showed up to move in, which would have shown the halls.
As far as noise, my only complaint is that there is a car that honks it's horn every morning at 7:15 because (I'm assuming) they carpool with someone in the same building that we live in, but that could happen anywhere. Oh, and the person above us recently got an elliptical machine, which makes a weird thumping noise when they use it, but they've only ever used it at like noon on Saturday, so no complaints, just an observation.
Honestly, if you look in Seattle for a place that costs as little as these apartments do, you would be looking at a studio apartment in a crappy neighborhood with a slumlord and no amenities. The outlook doesn't get much better when you start looking outside of Seattle or King County, and usually there aren't any direct bus routes if you work downtown or are a student at UW. I feel like we were super lucky to be moving when this place had an opening, or else we would have probably ended up living in another s***hole.
