Years at this apartment:

I moved into the Park Edmonds complex about two and a half years ago. I liked it both for its location relative to the UW campus, as well as its price range as a college student. Upon moving in, I found the apartment to be in sub par condition. The bathtub was grey; the sink had burn marks in it (which I was charged for, by the way. See attached). I knew this was simply a part of apartment life, so I dealt with it and moved in. Within the first two weeks, my neighbor below me came upstairs, telling me that I need to "crawl around or something at night so I don t creak the floorboards". The man became violent and mentally unstable about "pounding day and night" on the floors, and on multiple occasions came upstairs pounding on my door. Many, and I mean MANY, of these incidences ended in police involvement. On the worst occasion, he came upstairs and nearly took the door down at 8:30 PM (which is within normal noise hours) because an 8 year old brother of a friend was playing Nintendo Wii. On multiple occasions management was notified of this, and on multiple occasions I was given assurance it would never happen again. Only after a child was threatened did management warn him he would be evicted if he talked to me ever again. As for my enjoyment of equitable rent costs... in two years my rent went up 191%, from 680 to 740 a month. That is 53% higher than the Snohomish County rental price raise in that time per Rent.com. Management claimed it was to improve community lifestyle... in two years I saw the stairwells painted. That was about all the "community improvement" I saw. So I have to ask, where did my 191% go' My girlfriend originally planned to sign into my lease with me, but due to the fact that it was her brother in the apartment at the time we were nearly attacked, she quickly changed her mind. We recently moved to another location, and I of course did my routine move out cleaning. I spent four days cleaning that apartment... scrubbing everything I could. I even had the floors cleaned. Today, I am writing you because instead of receiving the deposit check that I was expecting, I received a $110.76 bill. I have attached this bill so that you may see exactly what your property manager thought to make of my cleaning efforts. I might also mention the details of the line mentioning my "not available" status on my inspection date. Your property manager, Kirby Aumick, told me on the day that I tried to schedule such a meeting that "he didn't know when he would get around to it, but he would get around to it". I was just to "get the keys to him however I can". So, on the 31st of July, 2008. I arrived at the complex with the keys in hand at 10am in the morning. As usual, the office management was not in the office (did I mention that during your 9-6 business hours, your manager sits in his apartment nearly 75% of the time'). So, I dropped the keys in the rent box and left. Thus, your employee LIED ON LEGAL DOCUMENTS about my presence during inspection. Now onto the inspection. I was charged, of course, for the burnt sink, and the dirty bathtub. You will note on those lines the "choice words" used in before and after evaluations. I had several people inspect my cleaning efforts in that apartment, and as I mentioned previously went above and beyond to clean it. I believe I was scammed, and I blame your property management company as much as the property manager that forged this document to rack up charges on me." The above is an excerpt from an account I reported to Epic Realty customer service. This is, at least now, a completely awful place to live. I have contacted Epic Realty about the problem, and hope the situation is resolved.
