First of all when I moved in I was given an assigned parking space under cover. But told that most people just park in the open parking closer to there apartment. So I did that, but since I work from home and rarely drive my car they ended up towing it for no valid reason.

I also had someone break into my car and attempt to steal it once, and another time someone cut the convertible top with a knife to break in. All within 18 months and causing over $2K in damages, and the second attempt was after installing a $1K alarm system. I talked to a couple of my neighbors and found that both of them have also had at least 1 break in over the past couple of years, and the officer that handle my case said that this is a problem for the apartments on this street.

Then a few month ago I went to sign my new lease and was told that I now have to pay $25 a month for covered parking.

Also with the new lease they are now charging for water and sewer. This is some sort of percentage of the total bill along with a billing and account set up fee which is totally ridiculous and seems hugely inflated. Basically the way the lease is worded it gives them the right to bill you what ever they want and there is nothing you can do about it.

So as a result I did not sign the new lease. Of course because of that I now have to pay a $75 month to month fee which now with all of the new fees pushes my rent from $700 per month to around $825 per month. For that price I can get a 2 bedroom apt. with a garage. Needless to say I will be moving soon.

Do most apparment have these fees' I have only lived in a few apartments over the past 15 years, but I have never seen one that charged for water and sewer or a month to month fee'

As far as the apartments go they are pretty nice at first glance. Really the only thing that I am disappointed in is the fact that ALL of the appliances are junk and barely work. And the fact that I have upstairs neighbors that stomp around and play there stereo with massive bass at all hours of the day and night. And lets not forget the fact that a lot of the neighbors have dogs that occasionally yap all day and night.

In the past 3 to 4 years more apartmetns are charching for water and sewer and yes most apartments have month to month fees. I used to be in the business that's how I know. Good luck in finding a new place. Make sure you write a list of questions to ask while you are looking that way there are no suprises.
