Like living in a third world country' Then live here!

I've lived here for many years. Many long and painful years. The management here is pretty good. The maintance staff is awesome (although it's like a revolving door with their employment). The apartment is one step up from a cardboard box in a dirty back alley. The residents are a bunch of gap toothed shoeless hillbilly trash.
An Example: I have a "kitchenette". I have no dishwasher. The last time my sink backed up with putrid foul sewage (which has happened pretty much yearly) it was 11pm. I paged maintenance and they drove over (they live off site). Took care of it all right away. Very nice. They take care of the symptom but not the problem that keeps causing this to happen. The plumbing is all shot to hell, so really, what can they do'
Took about 5 years to get a fridge that I didn't have to scrape the frost out of the freezer. Took about the same to get a new water heater. The old one had a slow leak and caused the wall to get mushy and there was mold & mildew all over inside of the walls and cabinets (and I am highly allergic). Once they realize there's a maintenance problem though, they are all over it. You don't have to wait to get things fixed.
There are many many MANY children here. And not nice children either. Children of the corn live here. The spawn of Satan live here. They are very noisy and I'd like to rip out their vocal chords, but what do you expect when you live right across the street from an elementary school' Part of it is that their parents are too stupid to give a ---- what the little hoodlums do. They're not about to spend their beer money on a babysitter, either.
Very few of the residents speak english well, or at all, so trying to communicate with them is a challenge to say the least. Many of the 1 bdrm apartments have an entire family living in it, with extended family members and friends to boot. One apartment has 9 people living in a 600 Sq foot apartment. This is not normal. It's also not very sanitary. Many of the apartments at one end of the complex have ROACHES and others have RATS (thank GOD I've never seen either).
Also, I hope you like really loud and really awful music sung in foreign languages. It's pretty much a daily occurrence that something is blaring throughout the entire complex. I've had to call the cops on many occasions, like when I nicely ask the neighbors to turn the music down and they throw beer cans at me.
The walls are paper thin, I can hear my neighbors cough. Also, the windows are single pane and I have to wipe the condensation off daily otherwise it turns to pink sludge and mold. The bathroom is a nightmare for mold & mildew as well. No air circulation.
Parking is terrible. I have one space included in my rent and someone is parked in it at least once a week. I've had to have a few towed so I could park in it, as there are no spaces on the street within 2 blocks. Street parking is never available after about 3pm. Also, cars that do park on the street often have windows busted out by the kids here. Or the drug addicts looking to get back at their "baby daddy" for sleeping with their sister. You'd be amazed at the conversations I hear from people outside through my CLOSED windows at 3 am.
Basically, it has very few good points. Excellent staff. Cheaper than cheap rent (but you get what you pay for). Decent location.
Everything else is horrible. Please don't move here. You won't be happy. Unless you were in the Peace Corps or something and are used to living in a third world country.

This is an ok review, except that since my boyfriend and I have been living here we haven't had too many problems. Ya there's loud music, but I don't hear any of it after 9 p.m. Haven't had a problem with anyone parking in our spot, and the manager promised that she'd have cars towed if anyone parks in the wrong spot. The staff is great and the grounds are pretty well taken care of. Sure, there aren't that many people who speak English that live there, but we haven't had a problem with any of them being rude to us. The walls aren't that thin, and we haven't had any problems maintainence. This is a pretty good place to live, just as long as you mind your own business and aren't over sensative. Definately not a place where you think about handling the "rule breaking" people yourself. The manager is there for that!
