Not worth the breath it takes to say "The Jungle"

I've lived in this neighborhood for 17 years. I was born here and raised here. I can tell you right now that nothing here is worth it. Unless you're into buying dipped weed or crack. But if you're a clean person trying to have a life, you've come to the wrong neighborhood. This horrid place is like a bear trap, once it claws down on you, it's nothing but blood and pain, and it's harder than hell to get out.

The maintenance crew is barely effective, and the cops have to crawl through every 5 minutes after the sun goes down, or drunk wannabe gangsters will start shooting eachother and throwing bottles through windows.

The best moment I've ever spent in Trailside Village was when I was leaving.

Oh, and if you've got kids, and are attracted by the child care center there, think again. That place is horrible, they treat the kids like dirt, the only time they are actually decent to the kids is when a parent is there. Then they put on a show and dance. But when nobody's looking, they are like animals. It's horrible.

When we moved into 1321, there was a door missing from the frame, the maintenance said "We'll take care of that as soon as possible, within a week"

That door was missing for over 2 years. Nobody came in to fix it.

They also have near-montly inspections, and if you are on HUD, you'd better make the apartment look like you've never lived there, because if there's even a speck of dust, they mark it on their little report and HUD will pull their services. We tried to move to a different apartment (from a 3 bedroom to a 2 bedroom) and HUD pulled assistance, and they tried to charge us over 1000 dollars a month in rent!

As a child my bedroom walls were covered in black mold, every corner had cockroaches, there were black widows in the storage areas, and the celings looked like they were made of cat litter and paint. This place is dangerous. Simply dangerous. If you move here, you will regret it. I lived there my entire childhood, and I'll never be the same.

And if you have a child in this neighborhood, KEEP THEM INSIDE!!! I know it seems harsh, but the kind of things that children are exposed to so openly in this neighborhood is a travesty to all of humankind. This is not the way people are supposed to live.

They fenced off the border between The Jungle and the Everett Mall because kids would walk right into the mall, steal, and run into the jungle. It was bad. This place is insane. DO NOT LIVE HERE!

Edit: I've been recieving emails from former Jungle residents, asking who I am and such, so to save the time, my name is Devon. I lived there for most of my life, either in 1317 or 1321 Bruskrud. I've been there through 8 different managers.

Also, I had an email from someone who accused me of never living in the jungle. To this I have only one thing to say. I WISH I NEVER LIVED IN THE JUNGLE. You people don't seem to get how horrible it is. IF you need a taste of reality, maybe you SHOULD live there. But if you are looking for a place to live where you'll be save and be in a peaceful environment, try Marysville, because I can't find ANY place in Everett that's worth living in.

Also. The article says I'd only lived there since 1994, that's the furthest back the time goes, I've lived there since 1989.

My sister still lives there, with her daughter. I pity her.

OH! And I heard that they were tearing down Trailside Village to make room for condos. I have one thing to say to this... THANK GOD!

Hopefully all the people that are in the jungle on section 8 can find a safer place to live. If I believed in god I would thank him for getting me out of there before I became a wannabe gangster crackhead, dropping acid into my eye and shooting up heroin.

Feel free to email me to hear more about how horrible this place is... I've got a million stories about stuff that goes on there.

THANK-YOU. I look back once in awhile to see if anyone has seen the same thing's that I have seen go on here. Someone does speak up other than me which you know will get you in to trouble. But it is after all freedom of speach, opp's I forgot, we don't have that here, but you allready know that, just a neighbor that has lived here a long time too.

Hey this is Lance, The king of the Jungle,Jezter of the rest, since 1983, So all you can do is complain, that you lived somewhere for 17 years, that says alot. The jungle is a stepping for everyone, whether its good or bad is up to your perspective and goals,if you ever had any. Whereevr you go,there you are. The ghetto is in your mind.
