Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2003
We lived there for 3 years. When we moved in there in 2001, it was a great place.
Sometime in the last year, things really fell apart.
Management was very nice (the ones we got to meet...the previous review of management changing more often than not was true).
We did have problems with neighbors, we had neighbors on one side that threatened eachother's lives at all hours. When reporting this to management, we were told to call the police. Nothing was done to correct the problem.
The car stereos at all hours were annoying and inconvenient, not to mention a rude way to wake up at 2am.
Parking is fairly mediocre if you don't have a garage. Even if you do have a garage, you risk getting blocked in by people double parking or parking behind your car. This posed a problem once when I had to call an ambulance for myself, they had trouble getting to me.
Note to people checking out: Per WA state law, RCW 59.18.130 section 10 " Duties of Tenant...upon termination and vacation, restore the premises to their inital conditions except for reasonable wear and tear or conditions caused by failure of the lanlord to comply with his or her obligations under this chapter: PROVIDED, that the tenant shall not be charged for normal cleaning if he or she has paid a nonrefundable cleaning fee."
I mention this because in came to bite us in the ass when we moved out. The place was left impecably clean. My husband and I spent 6 hours touching up holes in the walls from pictures, and scrubbing the place from top to bottom. We are not dirty people, but we also didn't want to be held responsible for anything. We received a bill that claimed the place was filthy, charged us for touchup paint & a stain that we claimed on our check-in sheet (I'm waiting for a call back from management to contest the charge), and for carpet cleaning.
Read over your lease carefully, you will also see that you forefit any deposit you left should you vacate your property before the lease is up (read: buy your home when your lease is getting ready to expire). They will keep your $300 and charge you for any repairs after that.
Also note, they give you 10 days from the time they send you the bill to the time they send you to a credit agency. If you have a mail forward up, you will be sent to the credit agency before you actually receive the original bill. Our bill was sent to our apartment address, but some how, magically, the creditor had our new address.
