I had been at my apartment for 8 years when I had to move for medical reasons. I have been through several management changes and, with the exception of one, each proved to be worse than the ones before. The complex was nice when I moved in and I felt safe there but with each passing year and change of management, things got steadily worse. I began to see drugs being dealt in front of children, I saw a man shoot up outside my apartment window in 2005, I've seen the gang activity escalate and become a "normal" part of the society in 2006 and 2007. My car was broken into 4 times and was stolen once. I had made several complaints about the garbage that was thrown from the apartment above me to my front step and back patio area. All of my requests for help went unanswered. I watched management go from a caring part of our community to a group of individuals who could care less about the residents. They say that there is a courtesy patrol but try and find them when you need them. 24-7-365 my eye! I was lucky to see them once a week. I have been lied to, ignored, spoken to like I was a child who doesn't understand and when I asked for what was given to my by a former maintenance supervisor, the manager lied to my face and when confronted, denied everything. I had a witness who told the manager she said what she denied saying and she stuck to her story. You can't believe them. When I was moving, I requested a walkthrough and wanted to be present for it. I was told the window was 4 hours. I am disabled and asked that they call me when they were going to do the walkthrough and was told that they couldn't do that for me because they couldn't play favorites. I was told that the apartment needed to be in the same condition it was in the day I moved in. I wish I would have known I could leave the place a pigsty and still get my deposit back. When I moved in, the place was horrific. There was dirt everywhere, the "new" carpet was bleached in spots and filthy in other areas. The stove had an inch of grease in it and the oven hadn't been cleaned. There were (and still are) knife marks in the cupboard doors and there was jelly on the underside of the cutting board. We were told that the washer and dryer had to be moved to clean behind them but when we moved in, there were clumps of filth under them and receipts from FOUR YEARS AGO. When I asked to see my file, I was told I don't have the right to see the information. You just don't know what they might put in there and you have no way to protect yourself from false allegations. I hope more people go online to learn about the complex they are moving into before they get themselves in and can't get out. They will say anything to get you to move in and then you won't get the time of day from them unless they want your money. Run, run anywhere, as long as you run away from Cascade Ridge.
