Don't Be Fooled by the Beauty

There are fountains, the apartments are attractive, the windows are nice, etc. The Cove appears to be attempting to correct it's problem with ----- ----- tennants by upping the rent. Too little, too late in my opinion.
As has been mentioned by others: the laundry facilities are not connected to your building with walkways or hallways, so you must walk in the great outdoors to get there and back. That means that your clothes get wet in when it rains, which is quite often. What no one else has mentioned is how inadequate the laundry facilities are. The laundry room closest to our apartment is used by FOUR buildings (that is four buildings multiplied by eight units at least per building), and it has only four each washers and driers. We take our laundry to the local coin-op because the laundry lines are usually hours long.
Additionally, the pest problem doesn't end with rats. There are fleas (we have no pet, yet we have fleas), which we cannot get rid of. There are geese and ducks galore on the lawns, so the lawns can't be used for anything, including walking, because they are covered in poo. There, seriously, are rats that the complex doesn't seem to want to hire exterminators to deal with.
We weren't able to use our fireplace for most of 2006 because fires were prohibited by the management: they needed to have all the chimneys checked (apparently several times) for fire code reasons but they couldn't seem to get it done in a timely fashion. So, although we had a fireplace, we were without heat for the week we were out of power during that major storm late last year.
The worst problem of all in my opinion is the car theft issue. My car was broken into twice, by fiance's once while we've been here. However, my car has been keyed, his car has had a window punched/broken in (at a cost to us of about $400), our neighbor's truck was stolen in the night, and one of our other neighbors had their car stolen in broad daylight. There are no parking lot lights, the security guards are a joke, and even though it's situated appr. 3 blocks from a police station the cops take forever to respond. And you WILL get to know the local beat cops if you live at The Cove.
