There are better choices out there.

On the surface, this seems like a nice apartment complex. The grounds are very well kept and the staff is very nice. Their lease rates are cheap and you get a lot of space for your dollar. But, there is a reason it is so economical. The complex is in a somewhat higher crime area. There have been several vehicle break-ins and vandalisms. According to the police department, this part of Federal Way has more robberies and assaults than other areas. I should have done my research before living here.
The buildings are 25 years old and they are starting to fall into disrepair. Both of the units I have lived in smelled old and musty when I did my initial walk-through, and they had drywall that was cracking. If you live above somebody who smokes, your apartment will smell like smoke too. If you are determined to live here, ask about smokers if it is an issue. The laundry facilities are very dirty.
I have moved into two hellish situations with loud neighbors. I don't mean slamming cabinets and flushing toilets... I mean LOUD stereos, shouting, etc. I had to move units because one of my neighbors played in a band and practiced at night. Lots of loud, rude college age people live here. For working people, it really sucks. The management has been able to do next to nothing about the problem.
There are so many apartments to choose from that are in nicer areas than the busy commercial heart of Federal Way. I would suggest shopping around a little more before settling on Cove East...
