Enchanted Woods has been an experience from the begining. The staff here is friendly, helpful, encouraging, but they have absolutely no follow through. When we moved in, we were given a date and had to be out of our other apartment therefore needed to be into Enchanted Woods by that date too. We had rented the truck and had it all taken care of. I had called several times to verify that our apartment would be ready. When we got there, the carpets were dirty and stained, we had mildew in the window, on the blinds, and 1 of the bathrooms was torn up so that it was unusable because of toxic mold. The maint. that we complained about and had down on our lease to be fixed. (like the holes in the door and walls, plaster coming down, water damage in the ceiling, mantel not repainted, and damage to the counters...) were never completed.
Because we couldnt afford to move, and I hate moving we signed on 2 more times. I have lived in the community for almost 3 years. The main. is deplorable. The staff is friendly and helpful but they loose things on a regular basis, and do not follow through with maintenance issues. Our toilet was broken (the 2nd time) for a month before we had someone fix it, and it caused water damage to the closet, the hallway etc. One of the windows was broken and it is still not fixed, and the request was put in 3 months ago.
The people who run the office try very hard to be efficient and professional. They work hard, and do things that you would expect to be done by other staff, from painting walls and picking up trash. In that perspective I give them a thumbs up. They definitely care for the community they live in.
On the other hand, you have a tremendous amount of noise, you can hear your neighbors, the children run unsupervised and seem to give no respect for people property or things, and it seems to be a prevading attitude from the guardians in the home. Alot are latch key and have no supervision from a very young age. The school (Lakeland) is tremendous. The teachers, and staff at the school have been wonderful, and any problems I may have had have been resolved quickly and effectively from that end.
We have never had anything broken into, but other residence' have, we have not had a car stolen, (yet) but we probably dont have anything worth stealing either.
Overall I would not recomend living here, the rent is as high as other areas. I thing you could get a better area for a better price. Just because this is now section 8 housing doesnt mean it has to be bad. Oh yes the police do come here quite often,
