My boyfriend and I were suckered into glen park by a deal they have with apartment finders and DeVry. NO DEPOSIT.... wow what a great deal you are thinking right' NO, no deposit means they can replace the carpet and anything they want charging you hundreds to thousands (not exaggerating) of dollars when you move out. They raise their rent every year so they almost always have new people, and they charge everyone something different. When we moved here at the end of 2004 we were paying $575 for a 1 bedroom but now our rent for the same apartment is almost $800. We each have our own car which have both been broken into. There is not security, the women in the office have yelled at us (literally raising their voices) when we were just there to ask why our rent was going up $100. There pools and rec centers are understaffed so they are rarely open and they do ALOT of maintenance but at your cost. Things have been breaking in our apartment (door knobs, fan in the bathroom, garbage disposal, dishwasher) so along with normal wear and tear things we have to deal with, we have to stay here just so we can save up enough to move out and pay them off. We have had 3 or 4 different people/family's tell us about what happened when they moved out and they threaten you with lawyers and take you to collections because you won't replace the carpet.... the carpet is going to be a big thing when we move out because when we moved in there were bleach stains all over it!. I am scared and am writing this to hopefully warn someone. Also, if you do live with more then one person here, you still only get one parking spot so I hope you like walking.... they allow smoking so the apartments also have a musty smell to them when you first move in. If you happen to live in an apartment near another one with smokers, not only will this be suffocating but they keep you awake all night with their coughing/hacking and their crack babies screaming all night long.
