PROS: Clean. Competent management. Pet friendly. Relatively quiet. Dog park across the street ("unofficial" for now but should be full legal soon).
CONS: Needs better lighting in the parking lots. Better enforcement of community rules (broken down vehicles, excessive noise, people using their balconies as storage for crap and hanging laundry.)
First thing I have to say is in response to some comments which refer to this complex as "ghetto". I suppose some are older comments but still...I know ghetto. This is no ghetto. That was probably a racist comment. There are ------, latinos, asians and (oh my god) white people living here. Maybe some ------- as well. Cool. Diversity. I'm white. From Texas. You know, the Redneck state' I've run into more racists in Washinton than I ever did in Texas. Go figure.
My wife and I moved here a couple of months ago. Our first impression was with Sheryl (on the phone) and Kathy one of the leasing agents. Both of them have been very nice, very helpful and promised nothing they couldn't deliver on. Toni is a little stand-offish I guess. She could be a little more attentive when you talk to her. But, she has responded to our requests. So she's not Mary Poppins. Whatever. Maintenance has been responsive except for a problem with the washing machine. They eventually made a stab at that but it's still a problem. We'll see how that goes. It might need replacing and hopefully they don't get stubborn about that.
We also have a large dog. We take her to an area in the back to poop and always pick it up. I think it's disgusting that some pet owners don't pick up after their pets. Thats the same as people who dump their dirty baby diapers in the parking lot. Personally I only rarely see leftover poop. Still it's inexcusable. Hate to sound intolerant (well, no I don't) but if you don't like pets - don't move into a place that advertises itself as "pet friendly". That doesn't excuse poop offenders but expect it if you move into a pet friendly community.
The parking lot gets a little noisy at night on weekends. My wife and I have decided that everytime we here a car screeching it's tires or people playing loud music or people making noise...we are going to call security...EVERY TIME. We'll see what happens. Still, so far it hasn't been enough to keep us awake.
Some of the complaints here just don't make sense to me. Racist staff' Hmm. I wonder what Kathy (who is black) thinks about that. As for letting anyone move in here...I wonder if these people really mean - they don't like that they let ------ or Latino's move in' Ever heard of the Fair Housing Act' I'm a white boy and they gave me hell about some credit issues I had but let me move in. Guess that makes me white trash.
Whatever...it's a decent place. Nice management. Competency' They are fine. Responsive' Good. Clean grounds' No problem. As for any crime issues...I haven't seen it (yet) but the reality is it happens everywhere. If anyone thinks it's the apartment managements responsibility if your car gets broken into...you need a reality check. 1) read your lease. 2) get involved - form a Crime Watch group. The FWPD is happy to help you out. Apartment based Crime Watch programs have been very effective, and in a community of this size it would be a great thing.
