I had previously written a more kind review of the apartment, but after the past 2 weeks I have revisited this site to let my situation be known. The short story is, I was without hot water for a week and then moved out of my unit for a week while the major repairs were made to the broken pipes. I tried very hard to go with the flow while my life was turned upside down. When all was said and done, I was given a $500 credit plus credit for the hard out-of-pocket expenses that I incurred (dog sitter and HUGE energy bill). When I tried to show all the inconveniences and soft costs that I incurred (had to eat out for 2 weeks, had no way to do laundry, took a vacation day to clean up the mess), they flatly said "No".
The grounds are kept very well, but there are maintanence men running loud equipment EVERY saturday morning and afternoon. Yes it looks nice, but the noise is very annoying. Its always green because they water every night and morning (even when it is raining), but on the flipside, dont walk in the grass because it is so soft and muddy as a result. I frequenly get muddy dog prints on the carpet because of the constant watering.
The pool was without heat until June, when they completely closed it for the remainder of the summer. The Hot Tub was closed for over 3 months while they had to repair something in it (it could still be closed, I stopped trying to use it). The basketball hoops are badly bent, and the workout equipment is marginal.
Parking is good for small pockets of the complex, but is packed for majority of the areas. We pay for a covered, assigned spot so we dont have to fight for a close spot. My wife's car was backed into by somebody with a hitch one night and totally ruined the bumper and the rear fender causing $800 damage.
We live on the ground floor and noise isnt bad there, but if you are on the upper floors, you hear the neighbors above and around you more. Something about being in the ground that dampens the noise. The kids playing loudly in the street and fire sirens are common - and annoying (the fire department is across 1st Ave from the complex).
The absolute worst part of the apartment, and the reason that I do not recommend it is the staff. They dont call you back when they say they will. The person at the desk is never the person who knows about your situation. The say they are open until 6PM, but I get home from work at 5:45 and have NEVER found it still open at that time (I think they always leave a little early, not realizing lots of people like me want to come in just after work right before 6PM). One lady specifically, is routinely rude to me, tells me she cant help me, and I should call back when the manager is in (but doesnt tell me when that is).
Bottom line is that when you visit this complex, you will find that some units are nice, some areas have parking, the landscaping looks impeccable, the staff seems friendly, but after living here for a short while, you will be inundated with annoyances. And if, God forbid, you have a maintanence issue in your unit, you will find out how much of a nightmare this management staff can become.

you stayed in the model, so you could cook,do laundry, take showers and not have a electric bill for 2 weeks. As for the dog walker did you let them pee on your carpet before or did he come and walk them. You were offered a cleaning person to come and clean the apartment. Its funny how greystone was great until you didnt get your way.
