Close, but look elsewhere...

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
First for the positives:
- Clean apartments in good condition
- Well maintained grounds (getting worse though)
- One of the few that allow big dogs
- Decent perks like the pool, gym, and basketball court
- Marvin, the caretaker, was great...very friendly and helpful
Negatives:
- Lack of parking spaces. You will need to pay for one or be prepared to drive around occasionally trying to find one.
- Very narrow parking spots. Both of our vehicles took a beating from the doors of others.
- Before we left the basketball court was closed after somehign like 6pm
- Essentially, if you work it wasn't available to you. May have been temporary
- Relatively expensive compared to other apartments in town
- Grounds used to be well maintained, quality has gone down and we had found garbage blown onto our ground floor patio often from the groundskeepers
- I'm not sure if the work orders get lost or ignored, but on several occasions we had to call several times to get things done. Overall the maintenance folks are pretty good though.
- You can pretty much consider your deposit non-refundable. You must pay for carpet cleaning when you leave. We cleaned-up pretty well before we left and apparently we owe $60 above and beyond out deposit. There was a $15 fee to wipe the counter, another $15 to wipe a cupboard and a variety of other petty fees. We did not have the time to do a final walk through, which was stupid on our part as there is very little we can argue after the fact.
Overall we were pretty disappointed when we left. There are a couple nice people there, but for the most part, after you sign your lease they really could care less about you. Unless you need a place for a large dog there are better places to stay.
