The Good. the Bad and the Ugly

Soundview Apartments does have breath taking views, generous sized units and that about sums up the good.
The bad' Just where can I begin' Maybe I can begin with how I had to thoroughly clean the apartment before I could move into it. Oh wait there was the time last November the defective lock on the sliding glass door had me trapped out side on my second floor deck for over 2 hours, without a coat. A kindly neighbor called the emergency maintenance number and after he explained the situation he was told they were all in a meeting in Seattle and could not do anything to help. Luckily we found a locksmith to come and pick the deadbolt and let me in. There was the time at 10:30 at night that hot water started pouring out of the light fixture over the breakfast bar, then out of the kitchen ceiling, the pillar between the kitchen and dining room. The emergency maintenance man came within 30 mins. Poked some holes in my kitchen ceiling and said we were lucky it wasn't any worse and he'd have the main maintenance man come look at it sometime. As of the writing of this, that was over a month ago, no one has come to look at it, I guess sometime isn't here yet. The few maintenance issues they did attend to happened only because I had to call daily until they did. Electrical cords still fall out of the outlets in the walls because the outlets desperately need to be replaced but I just don't have the will to fight any more.
The Ugly' My 2 cars have been damaged in the parking lot 3 times in the year I have lived here, I have the body shop on speed dial. There are not near enough dumpsters for a property of this size and more often than not I find the dumpsters over flowing and garbage stacked all around them. The seals around the windows desperately need repaired and cold air blows through them constantly. The spa has never worked in the year I've been here. Now I know it's not their fault but for the tenants that have to park in the front lot of the parking is now gone due to the hwy improvement and tenants are left parking anywhere anyway they can and there is no place for their guests to park. Lastly the rental rate, my lease is up in less than 30 days and I have yet to receive official notification or new lease terms. 2 months ago I noticed that the rates on their web site were a great deal higher than what my rate was so I sent an email asking what I could expect. I was informed that a market survey had just been conducted and that the rate on 2 bedroom units, worst case, would go up $75.00 a month and mine would mostly likely go up that much. OUCH! I have no idea what other complexes were included in this market survey but those that command this high of rate are in much better condition, offer more amenities, newer appliances, covered parking and storage. The office door may as well be a revolving one because in the last 4 months or so I have not seen the same person working the office twice.
All that being said, if you want an awesome sound view a spacious apartment for more than you should be paying and don't mind all that I've listed above, Soundview may just be the place for you, but it is definitely NOT for me.
The rent you see listed for this unit on this page is our current rate, I was told it would go to $75.00 a month and that would make it $905. However I never received official notification just an email from the Community Manager.
UPDATE: We have been moved out of the unit 26 days now and have yet to receive our deposit refund or a written statement as to why they believe they are entitled to our deposit. BEWARE you will have to fight these folks for your refund.
