Leasing staff just doesn't care

I honestly haven't had many problems with my apartment other than minor things -- like the oven door won't close and that the compact washing machine makes a lot of noise.

However, I do have a beef with the leasing staff and it's a long story. What it boils down to is that you are required to allow management staff in for an annual inspection. I didn't have any problems with this at the time. I signed my lease without complaints and moved in with my two cats. I had a maintenance guy out to fix my oven and left a note for him that the cats will just hide under the bed when he comes in. I guess he had no problems.

I get a note to the effect that they're going to perform these inspections in four days over a three day time window and that we are required to have all pets in carriers from 8am-5pm if we are not home. I leave for work at 6:15 am and I understand that my need to make arrangements isn't their problem, but more than four days of notice sure would have been nice so I could make arrangements to board them. They tried to tell me it's "illegal" to fail to crate my cats, then they told me it's a liability issue, which I can understand.

But it seems like every time I go to the leasing office, the agents seem to stare at papers instead of wanting to help the tenants and there's a new face back there every time I go in. I don't understand why they have so much turnover or why I get a different story every time I ask a question, or why I can't seem to hear from the actual property manager. I guess she shuffles everything off on her underlings so she won't have to deal with it.

I will be getting out of this apartment complex once my lease is up. Other than the issues with leasing staff, my apartment is nice and quiet and I don't have any problems finding a parking space or getting maintenace to come in to fix things. It just seems that the leasing staff has no clue what's happening out there at all and has no time to deal with current tenants -- they are too busy with prospective new tenants to take care of the ones they have.

You're lucky you don't have nothing wrong with your apartment. Because unlike us we all have mold growing, nothing works, parking sucks, it's cold, the heaters don't work, bugs everywhere, and yes the leasing staff sucks.
