Don't live here

Apartment was very dirty when I moved in. Carpet had been cleaned, but the kitchen was covered in a layer of grease and dust and the whole place reeked of cigarette smoke. Wasn't able to inspect my unit before moving in, only the model unit. Rent keeps going up. Parking lot has inadequate space for visitors (visitor spots are usually filled up with tenants' second cars).
Management company has switched once in the time I've been here. Management staff seems at least apathetic and usually down-right lazy (worse after the change of management). Currently my mailbox is damaged and the post office will not deliver mail to it. It was first damaged over a month ago, but was sort of fixed (enough for the mail to still be delivered). Now is broken again. It has been this way for a week and they still can't tell me when it will be fixed. They say they have to wait for "corporate" to come and give them permission to order a replacement, but they didn't have an ETA for the inspection.
Once got a notice on my door on a Sunday night saying that they'd be inspecting/spraying for insects the next morning and we needed to move furniture away from the walls and arrange for children and pets to be out of the apartment. Less than 12 hours notice! Evidently enough people complained and they didn't end up spraying.
Recently the buildings were painted and parking lot refinished. Bad weather forced some delays but management did a horrible job keeping us up to date as to when we needed to move our cars or have our balconies empty. Maintenance issues in the unit (problem with the drier, leaky faucet) were promptly fixed.
Neighbors are occasionally noisy, but usually not too bad. Occasional police presence (few times per year --seems like mostly domestic violence issues). Had a rash of car break-ins, but that has since died down. Fire lanes and fire hydrants are often blocked by cars (because there's no where for visitors to park).
Why did I live here so long' Good question!
