Good times and bad times

There hasn't been a posting here in a while so I'd though I'd put my two cents in. I've lived here since 08/2006 and have seen 2 management changes. The first management was nice and kept on top of things. No real complaints. The second company came and went so fast, I didn't have any time to say they're good or bad (Con Am. President Johnson anyone'). Right now, the management company is Glacier Management. Well, here I go! The good and the bad.
The prices are cheap, no doubt about that. When I first moved in, the rent was 620 for a 1 bed room. Now it's 680 (as of august 27,2007). Let me name the bad things as those are the more prevalent in my memory. The swimming pool. We're still not 100% they got that thing fixed in that 1 and 7/12 years that we've been here. Not that it's ever warm enough to swim in an outdoor pool. There was the garbage incident. During the change management and the holidays, garbage really piled up. But it wasn't cleared for about... oh, I think about 23 weeks' The garbage company won't pick up the garbage if there's something obstructing the bins (like garbage.) and the residents just keep dumping more garbage there. Although the garbage were the resident's fault, the fact that nothing was done was the management's fault, I believe (feel free to correct me on that one.). Another is the laundry room. They recently changed the locks on the laundry room (not sure why). But in doing so, they made it so the door doesn't really shut and close... pretty pointless in installing a lock that doesn't work, I think. They did change from coin slot machines to card machines recently. That's a plus. Parking is probably the number one complaint I have. I'm not sure if it's the old building design or there are too many people with friends over that park their cars but there are never enough parking. The staff doesn't want to admit it (they don't want to admit a lot of flaws.) but it is there. We have one assigned parking (which is good. No extra charge), and we offered to pay for another extra, but they won't allow that. Which wouldn't be bad except there really are never enough parking around here. There are people that park in the fire lanes, next to the trash cans, in the spot that says "No Parking" (that's my favorite). Usually we call the towing company and it's a hit or miss with them. In the past, they wouldn't show up for hours (if at all.). Recently, it's been better. But the same people still park in the wrong places. Fire lanes, etc, and they never get towed. Not sure why.
There's one neighbor that always had garbage littered through out the patio. Every once in a while, we'll be too tired to take the garbage out in the middle of the night so we take it our tomorrow morning. We'd get complaints about that, but not about the open garbage littered across the patio from the people below us. They did eventually get them out, but it took some time (about 34 months). Which, I guess was both a good and bad thing.

I guess in summary, you get what you paid for and things use to be better. We're looking for a new place to move to. The location's great. Can't beat it. Where else can you be a block away from shopping malls, book stores and super markets and still have a view of the lake every morning (I live in the I building)' But I'm afraid the parking and the laundry and the lax management to do anything unless we put it in writing, duplicated and signed and date both copies (as per Washington law. I highly recommend people read the renter's guild website. Some very good info there on renter's rights.) will they ever do anything. If the parking was better (and it's really just the straw that broke the camel's back.) We wouldn't mind staying here (and maybe upgrading to a 2 bedroom.).

Oh, I forgot to mention. There are times they'll close the office when they're suppose to be there. Either close early or not open saturday at all (like they're suppose to.). That's a personal pet peeve of mine.
