Moving to the area' Not as advertised. Don't be fooled by Internet hype

My company is transferring me to Federal Way. My timeframe is quite short, so I relied on the Internet and ForRent magazine for information on apartments in the area.
The phone conversation with the manager plus the beautifully constructed web site lured me into a $150 deposit to hold an apartment for TWO days until I could get up to Federal Way to see it. The only thing I have to show for the trip is a $150 hole in my wallet.
Of the advertised 925 sq ft, maybe 600 are usable. The bathroom wasn't even large enough for a bathtub!!! The kitchen is so small that one of the drawers bumps into the dishwasher. Built in microwave' Had to be built in because there is no counter large enough to set one on.
They indicate in the carefully crafted on-line brochure that there is a nature reserve along a creek. Don't be fooled. There are no trees; it's in an industrial area. They also don't tell you that trains regularly run by the property.
I cannot comment on most of the specifics because, thankfully, I did not end up renting there. From the other comments on this site, I gather it was a real blessing that I hadn't rented sight unseen.

ur commennts are so true...really all they want is ur money...the way the apartment was structured was the way they had to cuz its' so small...the walls r not paper thin..they r tissue thin...everytthing is heard..even a cough...fife is like a bellevue wanna be town....believe me it will NEVER ever be one...all apartments built on WETLAND(YEAH DID U KNOW THAT)..shows that the city must be in need of extra cash..
