Very nice...if you have considerate upstairs neighbors

Though the complex is beginning to show its age a bit, overall the units are nice, fairly spacious, and well-maintained. The entire complex recently became ?non-smoking? which is a big plus in my opinion. Enforcement of the no-smoking policy has been a bit of an issue, but it?s a new policy and will take some time to get into full swing. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the gardener takes great pride in the landscaping. There is always something beautiful in bloom, and the grounds are immaculately maintained. Almost all repairs are done within hours by the on-site maintenance man. My only complaint here is that he sometimes doesn?t know when to call in an expert, so on occasion a repair will be less than perfect (nothing major, though). The office manager is one of the nicest people I?ve ever known, and she sincerely tries to correct any problem. A few negatives: the windows are aluminum rather than vinyl, so they are constantly damp and moldy. Keeping ahead of the mold is a constant battle. The ceilings in the bottom apartments are only seven feet high, so it can feel pretty claustrophobic. If your upstairs neighbor is heavy-footed (as mine is), be prepared to put up with a lot of banging and thumping just above your head. Also, be sure that your upstairs neighbor is home and walking around when you view your apartment. The floors are poorly built and can be extremely squeaky. Parking is adequate on the upper level of the complex, but it can be a problem in the evenings on the lower level. The carports are fairly close to the master bedroom windows, so you may get headlights shining into your bedroom at all hours. My electric bill is nearly double what it was in another Gig Harbor apartment; this is a slightly larger apartment, but I also think it?s not very well insulated. With the above caveats, I would recommend Harbor Village.
