Not a good place to live.

I would strongly recommend not renting from Rebecca Shore Apartments, and perhaps any property that's managed by Dobler Management Company. While the shabbiness of the Rebecca Shore apartments (the exterior of the building looks like a run-down motel, and the insides are only marginally more charming) might be offset somewhat by the excellent waterfront view, the abominable quality of the management guarantees that you're better off looking for housing just about anywhere else in the harbor. Although the worst of the management's sins is what appears to be the systematic eviction of elderly tenants, it's the indifferent, uncaring incompetence of the current manager that will leave even a short-term resident highly dissatisfied, if not outright angry.

The only function of Rebecca Shore's onsite management is to collect rent checks and shuffle paperwork. Do not expect them to settle disputes, answer questions, take responsibility for their mistakes, pay for damages they make to your personal property, or provide assistance of any sort. Tenants' questions or concerns will invariably be met with, "I'll have to pass that information along to the management and get back to you." Do not expect to be gotten back to.

Rebecca Shore is a small apartment complex with the functionality and facelessness of a bloated bureaucracy. It is unclear if this is a result of ill-advised policies on the part of the management company, or sullen laziness on the part of the onsite manager. Either way, it's bad news for any tenant who wants to be treated like a real person. In their eyes, you're a signature on a check at best, and in all other regards, a nuisance. At Rebecca Shore, the emphasis is on the impersonal. Do not expect to feel at home here.

Toss in the fact that the parking and laundry facilities are limited, the roof leaks, and the apartments, especially those on the bottom floor, are unpleasantly damp and mold-prone, and you've got a place with very little to recommend itself other than a good view.
