A typical apartment community.

We moved here less then a year ago, over all Chopaka isn't much different from any other apartment coplex, just a bit more expensive. We have had our fair share of issues and complaints, but I've lived in apartments around the world for the last 11 years. There isn't too much more that happens here then there is anywhere else. I'm not impressed with the issues that require police assistance, but then we live in a city. If you want to avoid "police" issues don't live in a city.
Managment is fair, caring and responsive. I am somewhat disappointed in the quality of the neighbors, but from where I came from I was used to everybody being friendly and non-judgmental. I have grown used to the "wanna be yuppies" who look down their noses, but I have to wonder why do these complainers and wanna be's rent' If they are so "up town" why don't they own their own homes'
People complain about the noisy unattended children...get real people. There isn't a neighborhood in America where you won't find children playing outdoors, that's what children do. Since we don't have a play area that is easily seen from any apartment in here the children will play in the parking lot, you can't really expect them to play in that "park" on the hill where there is no adult supervision, imagine Chopaka making the news again because someone's child was abducted! Don't you remember being young' Did you enjoy having Mommy watch you while you played with your friends' Responsible parents allow their children the room to be children, and discreetly keep on eye on them. This is how children learn to be confident and responsible. Children run and they yell, no amount of your whining or complaining will ever change that. Get over yourselves, you did it too (way back when).
I agree that maintenance is sometimes slow, but then what do you expect when there is one person filling that capacity' Can you be in more then one place at a time' Our maintence engineer does the best he can with the time and tools he is alloted, it's called prioritizing. Yes, it irritates me when he doesn't come to unclog my drain, but then I remind myself that someone else might have a bigger issue for him to deal with. I also remind myself that he has a family that he'd like to spend some time with too.
I think it is high time that residence here meet eachother and work together to make this a neighborhood and not just a place to seek shelter from the rain! We have many wonderful people living here, people who care and are willing to do what is takes to make Chopaka a place worth living. Those of you who are miserable make yourselves that way, after all life is only what you make it!
My overall rating, this can be a wonderful family community if the residence here worked towards making it one!
