This apartment house has declined considerably over the last 15 years. There have been almost no improvements and the common areas are worn down and needing improvement. There is an odor in the building that is unpleasant and I notice that many apartments have smoke coming from under their doors into the hallway even though management claims a no smoking policy is in place. I think enforcement of rules is not done in general, but utilized as a means of intimidation of tenants. This is not a place that feels safe and I wonder if the fundamentals of the US Constitution are being forgotten as the tenant population transitions to non-US citizens who aren't used to these freedoms and management knows this. This may be a driving force behind the change to an almost total non-US citizen tenant base.
I think if the owner put some funds into making the place more pleasant in the common areas in the building it would help a lot. Also, there should be a more diverse tenant make up. Having such a huge population of one culture that is not American and making no effort to assimilate or be inclusive to Americans is quite disconcerting. I can only imagine the owners of the building are simply in business to turn the greatest profit possible and taking advantage of a vulnerable population of immigrants and low income US Seniors to do so. This building is funded by US tax dollars and I assume oversight is ogoing. Someone should review this operation so the situation can be remedied given the huge numbers of low income Seniors and US taxpayers who have a vested iterest especially in the current economic state of depression.
