We had moved up here not knowing a thing about the city or the area. Based on the information I found about sammamish, we chose this location due to the low crime rates and good schools. The photos on the website also made the place look nice. Overall the community is not that bad, the landscape gets maintained and maintenance is quick to respond, although sometimes the fixes seem to be "band aid" fixes and don't adress the real problem. My main complaint about this place is the managements lack of ability. A word to the wise, DO NOT under any circumstances be led to believe a verbal promise will be up kept. Get everything in writting. We had signed a six month lease, when I arived at the property all the pre made paper work stated one year. I pointed it out and was told cross it out, it's no big deal. I did. My wife arrived later on and had to go in and sign the contract as well, only this time it read one year and my corrections and my signature were not on it. When we went to move out after 6 months the only copy they had was the one my wife signed for one year, my six month contract with my signature was "lost". Apparently I never lived here. We waited it out, watched the market, and left in a cloud of dust as soon as the one year was up. They charge for parking, it's not assigned. There is a car in front of the building that has tags that expired 4 months ago. During the snow storms we had to park 500 feet away and walk with groceries and child in a foot and a half of snow while this dead car that never moves sat there. We had complained to management and nothing was done. The car was still sitting there when we left. They charge for water, a flat fee, so it doesn't matter if you drink a glass a month, or take 3 hour long showers every day - we all pay the same. Cable is only provided by broadstripe which is overpriced. Trash bins are constantly overflowing and sometimes it spills into the streets. Parking lots are dark, lighting is non existant except for the lights over the overflowing trash cans. Kid pool in the summer is filty and I overheard the pool contractor say the health department would shut the whole thing down if they ever came by. Units are cold/ poorly insulated and water condensation on the windows causes constant mold problems. Average electric bill with all the old energy sucking electric appliances in the winter is $160 and thats with the thermastat at 65.
