I strongly recommend Alderbrook Apartments. I moved in 2005 and this was my very first apartment. I am still here and i am planning to upgrade to a 2 bedroom apartment. The apartments fixtures are new and that's one of the reasons why i moved in. The layout for a 1 bedroom is a good size for a starter apartment. I have a queen size bed and it fits with enough room to put a side table and a dresser on the side. bathroom is huge! So much room in there that i have a dresser in there where i keep my extra clothes. Kitchen is nice too. Enough cupboard and counter space. Living room is a little narrow but a full size sofa will fit, you just have to figure it out. The best thing is that i don't have to pay for water, sewer and trash so my expenses for rent and electric is pretty stable. Location is good. It's pretty central and on the flat part of kent. So you don't have to worry much about getting to work when it snows. The office staff is friendly and professional. They do fun things for residents such as early bird contest. If you pay early then you could win money off rent next month. Maintenance staff, well i personally haven't had any maintenance issue within the 4 years i have been here except for my closet door coming off hinge. But i know they have maintenance emergency after hours available if ever.
My favorite is the car wash station. I love my car and i save a lot of money from having to go to the car wash.
So in short, Move here and see for yourself.
