It Was Bad Now It Is Worse

Another new manager took over inApril 2009 and her motto seems to be, "Rent to anyone!" A number of undesirable neighboors have moved in since she took over. The result has been an increased amount of: fast food garbage in the hallways and parking lot, unsupervised kids playing in the parking lot (and cursing up a storm), groups of thugs hanging out in the parking lot and behind the back building, excessive 'party' noise (primarily rap), and teenagers in sagging pants roaming the parking lot who refuse to move out of the middle of the road as you try to drive in.
Speaking of driving in, the massive pothole as you enter the parking lot has yet to be repaired. It's been close to a year... maybe they just don't care if your car takes a beating every time you enter or leave the premisis.
The flooding continues to be a problem. The water in building D has been shut off countless times in the past 2 months. And you get no notice when they shut it off. One beautiful Saturday last month, the water was off for hours. If you can't shower, you're stuck at home. I've been late to work twice because water was shut off and once I had to enjoy a psuedo shower in the bathroom at work just because I had called in late so many times because of the shut off water.
Management won't do anything to reimburse you when you lose water either. They say it's not their fault they have to shut the water off when there is a flood.
The state of this community now can only be described as ghetto. It's comprabable to the movies where you end up in "the bad neighborhood" when you're lost. This is "the bad neighborhood now."
Don't make the mistake of moving here only to find this out. Once you sign the lease, you're stuck. I promise you I am not exaggerating. It really is this bad now. But don't take my word for it. Drive around the lot one day. Walk behind building D. You'll see what I'm talking about.

dude you are a racist. You are discriminating and I am glad the management doesnt. Behind the complex is a high school. Of course we will see kids walking through the complex. so what? you obviously dont have any kids or yours are locked up in your house. Have not seen anyone hanging out on the parking lot at night. it is a very quiet complex. I have been here for 2 years and dont have complaints and any concerns. I don't like to pay rent either but who does. I've seen manager picking up trash on numerous occasions and the maintenance guy is picking up trash every day. the landscaping is nice and there is no trash. dude you are making a lot of things up and bigger then it is. i hope you move out soon.

the manager wrote the response to this one.. i have heard her use "dude" several times. Also.. she's breaking the "no smoking" rule more than any of us. By the way.. fix the ------- pool and quit shutting off our water!

How am I a racist when I never said a single race-specific thing? I said "thugs," and that work does not designate a race. Maybe it is you who is the racist because apparently you believe a thug has to be someone of a specific race. Shame on you! I also never suggested that management should discriminate based on race, but they should be more selective in regards to the type of renter they allow in. There are several new residents who are problematic, NOT because of their race because they are not all the same race. They are problematic because they don't care about their community or their neighbors. They eat in the parking lot and discard their trash on the ground. I see it daily in the hallways and in the parking lot. Management does not pick it up daily or even frequently. And they shouldn't have to pick it up! The people who continually litter should have the common sense to pick it up, but they don't, so the rest of us living in the community are forced to deal with it. These new problematic residents have no respect for anyone! They hang out in large groups that block access to entryways and curse loud enough to be heard both in my unit and while walking by. They don't move when they are hanging out in the middle of the parking lot. The parking lot is for driving and parking. It's not a social club! I shouldn't be forced to drive around or sit waiting until they decide they want to move out of the middle of the street. You're right there is a high school behind the complex, but the people I am talking about are new additions to the community I see them in front of several of the buildings going in and out. They aren't high school kids just passing through. In fact, a lot of them are adults. And I don't think that children should be locked up indoors. I never said that. They need to be supervised. I frequently see young children (5 to 10 years old) playing unsupervised. In fact, a few weekends ago I saw 4 unsupervised young children having a waterballoon fight in the parking lot. The next morning there were melted balloons on several of the cars in the area. Why should I have to scrape melted balloons off of my car? It is the parent's responsibility to make sure their children respect other people's property. Aside from the supervision, I checked on this site, and there are 16 registered sex offenders within a mile of this complex. I shudder at the thought of what could potentially happen if parents are not monitoring their children! You also forgot to mention the floods, the huge pothole at the entrance, the clubhouse that contains nothing in good operating condition (pool is closed, treadmill is broken, glider is broken, Bowflex is missing pieces), and the latest addition: graffiti on the exterior of building D. Maybe you didn't mention these because you have experienced them? I have and I know several of my neighbors have too. My point is not to debate the issues. I see them with my own eyes everyday and I only want to warn potential renters. When my lease expires, I will be leaving--gladly leaving. I want to live in a community where these problems don't exist because management is more selective. If you don't weed out the riff-raff, you end up with a community that faces continual and escalating problems. As a renter on my way out, I think it is fair for me to warn others of the problems I have seen developing so they can make an informed decision.
