I'm a long-term resident here, entering my fifth year. Overall I can see a steady trend of improvement both in the quality of the community as well as the management. While security has been an issue, I do not belive we as residents can sit back and allow OUR community to be taken over, nor can we rely on a very small team of management employees to do it for us. I've taken the preliminary steps to form a Blockwatch Association with the assistance of the Kent PD and will post information at the mailboxes as it becomes available.
Kids running wild are certainly a problem but I have found that often all it takes is the firm word of an adult to stop the offending behavior.
Let's lose the victim's mentality and false sense of entitlement. This is our home, it is what we make it...no more, no less.

All of the above is true and good stuff- but given the sort of people that JLA/RC rents to (especially in the back part) I doubt it will do much good. The only thing that will work would be to restrict who rents there by CHECKING their credit and criminal record! (which is a legal means to be 'discriminating') Don't renew leases for those who are trouble. It will cost the owners of JLA/RC for a few years but in the end they will come out ahead. Unless, of course they WANT a Ghetto.

I wonder if you posted that info at the mailboxes that were crushed by the vehicle not too long ago? Someone drove a vehicle THROUGH the mail kiosk, scattering mail everywhere!

As a paying resident of a privately owned property, I AM entitled to a clean, safe place to live. It is the responsibility of the owners of the complex to provide enough office and security staff to insure the relative safety of it's tenants, and the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of the neighborhood.; Yes, a community watch is always a good idea, but again, the security of the complex, and the insurance of the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of that property IS the responsibility of the property managers and/or owners. Period.
