Poor value for the high cost.

Don't be seduced by the model apartment and the landscaping! Individual units aren't nearly as nice and well-maintained as the ones on show. My boyfriend and I have had our apartment for about 8 months now, and can safely say that you could get a better place for the $1000 per month we pay.
PRO: 1) Though there are a lot of complaints about theft and vandalism to cars, my boyfriend or I both drive newer, decent cars and have ever had this problem.
PRO: 2) There is a 5-day grace period for paying rent. I don't know if that is common, but this means they won't sic the loan sharks on you until the 5th of the month.
CON: 1) The animals and landscaping charmed us in our initial tour, but with ducks and geese come the mess that ducks and geese make (wouldn't be a problem if they were cleaned up after at least once a day, but that's not the case).
CON: 2) For lack of a better way to put this, the neighbors are insane. There's an elderly lady in our building who clearly has dementia and my boyfriend and I are often chasing her big dog around the grounds and trying to bring him home before she wanders off after him and forgets where she lives. I once found her at 6 AM trying to get into the wrong apartment after she'd spent all night outside, in the winter. When I informed management the woman seemed concerned but never followed through. It's also crystal-clear when the man across the landing from us yells at his wife, pees in the middle of the night, or when his alarm goes off in the morning... for hours. There is a group of men living on the other side of us that cat-call me any time I walk to my door alone. Basically, if you live alone and especially if you're female, you're probably better off buying an Astro Van to live in.
CON: 3) Upon turning in our move-in inspection report, I asked for three or four things be fixed... two were claimed to be, the others forgotten, but none of them actually were. For instance, our deck was pressure-washed but there was still a lot of permanent residue which means we'll have the pleasure of paying for it to be washed again when we move out.
CON: 4) While they aren't actually broken, the appliances are very cheap and low-end. The "dishwasher" is more of a "dish-polisher-after-they-are-perfectly-clean". The washer (which has a pretty small capacity) sounds like it will bring the house down if you fill it any more than halfway, and the dryer usually needs a couple of tries to get the job done.
CON: 5) Noise is a big problem. Not just through the walls, but also music absolutely blaring whenever people feel like it, screaming matches in the parking lot in the middle of the night. Security is terrible, managment does nothing about anyone's complaints, and I'm certainly not going to stick my head out and complain when someone was just shot in our parking lot on Cinco de Mayo. Oh, did I mention that, by the way' Someone was shot in our parking lot a couple of months ago.
It would be easy to keep going, but I think you get the idea... spend your $1000/month elsewhere, this place is really not worth it.
