We were a Jonathan's Landing resident from 20002001...The first thing they did wrong was not clean the apartment. My company sent me there to find a place to live and we tried JL since it was close. We gave a deposit, signed papers and flew back home to prep for the move. When we arrived about a month later, the carpets and flooring was still muddy and the appliances were still full of old food residue. Not real upset, since we would dirty it up moving in anyway, we marked the move in sheet accordingly. They said they would cover the rental of a carpet cleaner. They still charged us for dirty floors when we moved away 1 year later. Rotten exterior caused wet walls in the closets, the carpeting was always wet. When we pulled out some holiday boxes, mold had grown between the box and wall forming some kind of symbiotic relationship. As far as apartments go, probably the worst I have ever rented and 2nd in price only to California...when rent renewal came...they wanted 1087.00 to continue...definitely not even close to that value...wasn't even worth the 8xx.xx we were initially paying. One of the complex managers lived above us and had some serious breeding habits. Her screams of joy were very similar to the howler monkeys at the zoo followed by what sounded like a total collapse of her bed, kicking over the night stands and then hitting her partner in the stomach with a baseball bat. The neighbors would occasionally sit on their balcony and applause which resulted in her not changing her ways or being more discrete, but slamming her window shut. The apartment towards the parking lot was empty for quite sometime until the "kid rock" fan club moved in...the ONLY cd they had was Kid Rock...and they played it! I, to this day, cannot even fathom the behavior of these people and I was an eye witness...unfortunatley for several months. Ridiculous drinking, drugs and loud music that ended in fighting the UFC would have killed to had the footage of for a pay-per-view event. And when your arguing with geese and ducks...you have got a serious problem. The fights got so bad, they almost came through our walls, they kicked in their own door and it swung unsecure for days claiming the damage was from needing break into their own apartment...how do you dead bolt the door from the outside if you locked your keys inside''' We would close all the doors in the apartment for extra protection from the possibility of gun fire. Finally...the JL complex evicted them. After a short time living there, this empty field across from the main entrance became a nice new apartment complex...they were beautiful and new...and Section 8...WHAT''' Well apparently those who qualified for section 8 couldn't believe it either, but once word got out that place filled up over night. It literally seemed like one morning I woke up and their parking lot was filled with junk cars, cars on milk crates and people loitering. They were too lazy to walk around the white picket fence in the front of the complex...so the knocked sections of it over so they could walk across the street to the mini-mart that much quicker. Soon it spilled over into the JL complex along with theft, vandalism, violence and mayhem started. There were ever increasing and threats of violence if you caught them in the act or trying to protect property. You could hear them walking/running the complex at night...NOTHING outside was safe...God forbid you had a pre-teen/teen daughter or you were subjected to a lot of sniffing around your apartment, ebonics and hip-hop dance manuevers. We almost made it out unscathed, but our particular building was hit bad one night resulting in several acts of vehicular and facilities damages...My sportbike was locked to the covered parking and was pushed over causing severe damage, it was no longer road worthy. One of our neighbors motorcycle that was not secure...was hanging off the fence of a ground floor unit patio. I remember a neighbor catching some of them destroying a lamp post to steal a locked bicycle and being told to mind their own business(censored version). The parking got ridiculous, resident parties resulted in residents not being able to park at their own home...covered parking was rented, and they didn't respect that either. I will never forget the carpet stains from the goose/duck poop slurry all over the sidewalks, the smell of the rotting cabbage farm and manure island. So glad we left...
