Signature Point Apartments

I lived here for several years in a 3rd floor 2 bedroom unit. I didn't have any major complaints. A couple minor repairs were done in reasonable time. I had no problems with the staff. Green River Trail surrounds most of the complex, which was good for recreation. It was an acceptable place to live. They tried to promote a sense of community by having regular events at the cabana, though I never bothered attending. At least in the section I lived in, it seemed like many of the residents were on good terms and their children played together in the courtyard. A school is very close to the complex.
SOME ISSUES
-Security:
I noticed a number of cars that were broken into overnight. Near the end of my stay they hired a security guard to cruise up and down the strip overnight. Not sure if this helped reduce break-ins, as it looked like he only stuck to the parking areas and didn't patrol the grounds. Apartment thefts continued to occur even after he started working. Some tenants were apparently careless though -- leaving windows/doors unsecured. They trimmed back all the shrubs so they wouldn't provide cover for somebody trying to break in a window.
-Noise:
Of course, noise levels depend a lot on what kind of neighbors you have. For about a year we had a noisy neighbor downstairs who would regularly verbally abuse his wife/girlfriend and occasionally crank up his stereo. My apartment faced a common courtyard area and there were lots of children who would play there when school was out. This didn't bother me but if you don't like children this place isn't for you! The grounds were well-kept but they seemed to use the noisiest machinery they could find (leaf blowers, etc.). None of this noise occurred at night though. I only had problems because I was working nights and was trying to sleep in the day. Also note that highway 516 cuts through the north end of the complex so apartments near there might experience more noise.
-Scents:
Elliot Farm is across the Green River on the West side of the complex. The manure smell can be quite bad at times, particularly on warm summer days. It was never so bad that I could smell it from inside the apartment though. As others have mentioned, some residents barbeque and/or smoke on their porches, which can be annoying if you live right above/across from them.
-Other:
-Windows were cheap and could be improved for better security and insulation
-Water drained poorly around some of the apartments and pooled in the rainy winter months
-Staff complained that I was hanging my clothes outside on the balcony to dry. Talk about picky. This is perfectly normal and acceptable anywhere else in the world. Other people had plenty of crap stored out on their balcony, which looked worse and was there permanently, as opposed to my once-a-week laundry. Anyway, I ignored the letter and continued to do it without repercussion. They also asked me to take down some sun-shades I put up on the balcony to try to keep the apartment cooler. They weren't hideous looking or anything, so I don't know why they took issue with them.
