I have lived here for a year, and it is impossible to keep the unit warm in the cold months. The units have single pane windows that are the cheapest you can buy. I turn on the heat for hours to warm up the place and within one hour of having the heat off, it get totally cold. They spend tons of money on landscaping and yet they haven't upgraded the windows or doors. Because of the moisture and air coming in between the windows, I constantly have mold growing around them. I clean them every week and every week there is more.

I agree, although the benefit does come in the summer in our unit, where it stays cooler in the apartment than it does outside. We rarely use the floorboard heaters. They are very inefficient. We use ceramic space heaters in every room, and just heat the rooms that we're using. Once you turn them off, it's almost immediately cold again. It's more than just the doors and windows that need updating. The kitchens in all the units I've seen are pretty shabby. Cheap and banged-up cabinetry and countertops, and the built-in microwave is so old it's unusable (no rotating carousel--at least 20 years old.) My mother visited for a couple of days in January. She was uncomfortably cold the entire time, inspite of the heaters. Next time I'll have to put her up in a local hotel.

Yes, I have the exact same issues. I'm glad to know that it wasn't just me.
