NOTE TO SELF: When renting an apartment, make sure you preview the actual unit you'll be staying in before signing the lease.
I made that mistake by not doing so. The apartment that I previewed was real nice, new carpet & all. I was really excited about moving into Waterford til I got my keys on my move in day & opened the door to an apartment that did not look like it was even ready to be rented out to a new tenant. Mind you, there was an iron burn mark on the carpet in the dining room area, stains on the living room floor. Were they stupid' Did they really think I wasn't going to say anything about the carpet' Oh yeah, there were a few lights that were out too.
In another event that occurred, one of the pipes underneath the sink in the kitchen burst & so much water was coming out. I almost had an anxiety attack. I've never had anything like that happen to me before. Lucky thing my boyfriend was there to somewhat try to cover the pipe so the whole apartment wouldn't flood while my brother was vacuuming up the water with our industrial vacuum cleaner & myself scooping up the water with a damn pot. It was a total nightmare. I called the "emergency" maintenance phone number to page the maintenance guy & he did not call me until 20 minutes later. Keep in mind, 20 minutes is a damn long time to be vacuuming & scooping up water. He was trying to tell me all these different things to do, (go downstairs to the bottom unit, enter in their apartment & shut off the water source, I didn't know what the hell he was talking about. go to the water heater by the washer & try turning one of those knobs) I'm thinking in my head, why can't you come & fix the problem. He says he can't come 'til the next day, no one lives on site. After a long 30 minutes we got the water to stop running ferociously to just the pipe leaking out water. I had to put one of my biggest pots underneath the leakage just 'til the next morning. By the way, my tub was clogged up because I had no where else to empty out my vacuum cleaner when it got full of water all the dust & junk that was previously in the vacuum before the pipes burst.
I always see different girls that come & go in the management office. The manager is not very welcoming, b%#*h. I can say only two that I've met are nice. The people that work in the office don't even live on site & I don't blame them.
When I moved in which was during the summer time, I never wanted to sleep at home on Wednesday night because Thursday mornings was hell for my family. Landscaping day was so noisy. Everyone in my family works the night shift so sleep during the day is essential. For people who spends hours & hours mowing the grass & blowing leaves (in the same spot) it still all looked like crap!
