We lived at Hunters Run for 4 years, yes.. we actually put up with 4 years of hell because we weren't in a position to find another place & couldn't beat the commute (we both work in the Kirkland area)
Allow me to first tell you the things we DID enjoy:
1. Our neighbors were great, we felt that there was a strong 'internal' community. Everyone was friendly.
2. We got along with the management staff on a personal prior to the change to Riverstone, although, we did have our issues.
3. The previous management worked with us when we had rough months and allowed us to make partial payments. She would say "get it to me before i have to make my deposit on the XX date and i won't charge you the late fee"
4. The management was always honest w/us and told us that the "old" property managers sucked and alot of their issues stemmed from that.
5. When we had the power outages, the former maintenance guy did what he could to help out the elderly and those with kids. Many stayed in the cabana to stay warm.
Now here is what we didn't enjoy, obviously in no particular order:
1. being able to hear my neighbors while going to the bathroom, flushing is one thing however being able to hear "the stream" is a completely other issue.
2. When we made noise complains (prev management), we were told to go talk to our neighbor about it. HELLO we're coming to you because we're not comfortable.
3. The trash compactor was NEVER emptied, there was/are no recycling options and people would leave their furniture by the compactor thinking it was acceptable.
4. The long-term-tenant renewal bonuses sucked. We got a carpet cleaning, which the stains popped right back a week later.
5. The kitchen has absolutely no storage space, no cupboards, and no room to properly wash your dishes. There is no counter space to the left of the sink because the fridge is there.
6. Again, noise issues. We could hear our neighbors close their closest, bathe their children, watch TV.. hell, people could hear us too and we were fairly quiet!
7. The little kids that would play at the bottom of the hill, and would not move when you were driving towards them. Their parents would feign not being able to speak english, as would the kids. Many times i said something to them, in spanish even, and they never listened.
8. During the last winter storms their was absolutely NOTHING done for the tenants until the snow was practically gone; and even then all they did was put salt on the walkways around the office. I watched so many people have issues with getting in and out and i had issues leaving my apartment due to the snow on the steps.
9. The remodels are a joke.. one of our neighbors who moved in after the first set of remodel was done (w/old management), found where they had painted over tape on a shelf because they were too lazy to pull it off. They also didn't follow through with any of the repairs, her accent wall was a joke.
10. MOLD MOLD MOLD MOLD. The Mold isn't becuase we live in the PacNW. The Mold in my apartment is because there is absolutely no ventilation system in the bathrooms for the 2b1bath. Even nails i had in the walls rusted in the bathoom due to the moisture.
11. the W/D and Dishwasher were horrible. It took us 2 times worth of drying to dry cotton and we weren't doing large loads!! we would always clean our vent out.
I applaud the new management for trying to make a diamond out of a turd, and i wish them the best of luck. The new staff seem nice, and willing to help. Having the 24 hour maintenance line is helpful as well, although when we complained about the ice to the maintenance line, they didn't seem to get it.
Haven't gotten our deposit back, we'll see on that. The old manager told us that the prop management company would let managers go if they refunded deposits. Due the remodel tho, we'll see.
