I thought the place would be nice. clean when i moved in, nice and cool in the summer. don't hear much from the outside. But you can hear every...little...noise from the neighbors. The management, while nice, flat-out lied when I asked what the noise was like. They said the building are concrete. They are NOT. I can literally hear people cough, talk, close doors, flush toilets, enjoy their 'moments', etc. Good luck if you have someone who watches TV or listens to the stereo. You can even feel people walking around. The floor shakes.
I'm incredibly disppointed with this place and I plan to move as soon as my contract is up. I've lived in several appts in the past and have never experienced this before. I don't think I'm too sensitive...I understand that day hours and early evening can generate some extra noise but having my tables shake due to the sub-woofer downstairs is rediculous.
Do NOT rent here. I read these comments when I was looking and didn't believe them. Sadly, they were true. STAY AWAY!!

Would you believe, as of this date ll/9/07, the gate is STILL not working. Furthermore, managment knows it doesn't work, it has never really worked, and is still advertising the Montebello as a gated community! This is your out for false advertising and proof that managment is lying to you, and not living up to your lease agreement. It makes no difference they are going to fix the gate in the future, or the last people took out the computer, this is a ploy, because if they don't take care of your end of the lease within two weeks, you can terminate your contract immediately. This is in NRS Codes lll8A 350 thru ll8 520, Tenet Remedy. Furthermore, you can break your lease over the pidgeon poop. Poop damages car paint. I saw managment drive by pidgeon feeders in their golf carts, maintenance crews as well, and they never went to the apartment for months and told the man to take down his pidgeion feeders until you complain. Want to remove pidgeons, remove their food source, and this can mean garbage too. Look up how unhealthy pidgeon poop is on the Internet, not to mention the garbage left out. Take pictures of all of this, and place a call into the Reno Health Department. They will come out anonymously.
This complex was cited over rocks put in the gate to block the pool, so that the college kids could let their friends sneak in, and this complex got in trouble with Bryan Gilkerson at the Reno Health Department. Past managment would walk by that rock, every single time, too busy showing apartments and the gym to prospective clients, and not one of those managers was concerned about the safety of chilren in that complex. Also, the lease agreement that I had prohibted loud t.v. playing from 10:00PM to 9:00 AM. My lease agreement specifically referred to loud t.v.s, so this is your breach if they don't notify the tenent. If they notify the tenet, and you get harassment, or your car keyed, after the notify the tenet, all the more reason to leave for lack of security, false advertising on a gated community, and not keeping the place clean. In a past blog, a man and a woman said they called Reno 911, (the police named after the movie, and a good amount of time the shoe fits) when their car got keyed by a neighbor they told to move from their space. The police officer said he couldn't do anything because their were no witnesses, and it was heresay??? Please put into your search engine, the The legal term HERESAY, because this officer was a little too high on the badge. At this point of an investigation, he can write down the fact that their was an altercation from this woman, she was angry, the couple got up the next day, and their car was keyed...Everyone knows that car-keying is a major retaliation. Again, your out is reading the real legal definition of heresay, because all conversations are considered in a primary converstation are just a discovery, and investigation. Heresay comes in the courtroom. What if this woman did it again. You at least had a copy of a report, in which you had problems with her, and this could be an out for managment, if she has altercations, and someone wakes up the next morning with their car keyed.
Please read tenent remedies, in your Nevada Revised Statutes. Put Nevada Revised Statutes into your search engine, and put ll8A 320, and go down to NRS Codes 118A 520 these laws automatically pop up.
As for some of these blogs, isn't it interesting, that managment, actually admits that some leasing agents WERE NOT ALLOWED to address tenents needs?
All you are is income property to them, but they still have to uphold tenent's remedies or you can leave if they can't in two weeks, immediately.
I don't know why, when people rent, the first thing they don't do is become familiar with their state's laws. They believe every single thing that their landlord's tell them, and when they read these laws for themselves, they are shocked. My 25 page lease agreement with Cambden Bluffs, purposefully left out tenet's remedies NRS Codes, but left all of the landlord's rights in, making it sound like you are in a choke hold by these people to lie, ruin your health, and not live up to their end of the lease.
Don't fall for, "Well, we tried to fix the problem, in the two weeks but couldn't," to make you feel guilty. The law specifically states, that if they don't remedy the problems in two weeks, you can break your contract immediately.
By the way, it amazes me, that when managment rents to college kids, they keep saying, "Well this is a college town." Wrong! It is a Casino town, primarily, and that's why many persons sleep through the day, and NRS Code 203010, is 24 hours all day. You can move over the noise, too.
They do advertise to college kids at UNR, check out the Montebello Website, but a parent has to co-sign for the kids. That is what the complex really wants, if the kids screw up, some poor shmuck parent will pay for new paint, new, carpet, appliances, whatever. I believe they want the college kids, because they will get a dumb cluck parent to provide a whole new apartment just about when the kids leave, so that a parent pays for the cost of their doing business. That is, they would have to paint the walls, and put in new cheap carpet anyway, to raise the rent, but they try to pass their cost of doing business on to the renter. So, technically, they like the college kids destroying the apartment, so they can get remodeling from the parent.
