The worst apartment community I've ever lived in

I moved into Montebello after leaving Avalon Juanita Village [which is beautiful, clean, well constructed and all together amazing] which was the BIGGEST MISTAKE I EVER MADE.

Not only are the neighbors ridiculously rude, only one person has EVER said hello. The dumpsters are overflowing, the hinges around the dumpsters have been off ever since the wind storm, [I was without power for 2 weeks.] The groundskeeping crew works early in the morning - so you wake up to leaf blowers right below your window. Parking seemed to be fine in comparison to my current apartment - however, I had a reserved spot so I wasn't concerned with uncovered parking.

The management was a joke. They showed me a model townhome [I rented the Sorrento] and AFTER I signed the lease, they showed me the actual unit I would be renting - which was tiny, smelt terribly of pets from the past owner, and when you request custom painted wall colors - they will paint a matte color, which will scuff when ANYTHING touches it - and in the process they will get it everywhere. If you spill water on the carpets, the carpet pads are so filthy that stains will rise up. The carpet edges are raw when they meet with the kitchen linoleum and the [usually cracked] entryway tiles.

The entire interior is straight from the mid-90's - light colored fake wood... hideous. I can hear my extremely rude neighbors come home everyday yelling "Hi Honey!" and even their cat meowing by the door. All of the floors creak, and the whole place is hideous.

Not to mention the last tenant did cocaine, how do I know' Their parole officer stopped by several times looking for the prior tenant, as well as "friends" saying the last tenant owed them money. Oh, and the rolled up $100 bill stored beneath the sink.

It is by far the most outdated, disgusting, noisy apartment I have ever been in - ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE! You're seriously pouring money into a dump.

The management are borderline retarded - always complaining about how much they have to do whenever you ask for a package, or dropping off rent - and the younger girl is so chipper and flat-out annoying.

They also leave all communications in the form of NOTES ON YOUR DOOR unless you request otherwise.

You won't regret looking elsewhere.

Avalon Juanita VIllage has brand new, amazing rooms for equal to or less than Montebello, The Monterey apartments in Kirkland and the Mira Condos are all beautiful and equal to or less in costs; all are places in which I have lived or am now living.

I had a group of college kids above me, and the apartment was a revolving door. One day, I noticed another kid dragging a matteress upstairs, and he by-passed the leasing office, as living there. I had asked for a quiet apartment, but got a frat house above me. They drank partied, fought, and I could here them pass a -----American prostitute amongst them. How do I know, I saw the pimp deliver her in his Mercedes, then come back and ask the boys if they wanted her again, and they said yes. I called Reno 911, and I made a complaint. This was at 2:00 in the morning, and the police officer was rude to me, said he went upstairs and didn't hear any noise, and treated me like I was an old lady with nothing better to do then pick on the poor college kids. I turned over the officer's name, card, and time to the office management staff. I also complained about this police officer's taking sides with the frat house, directly to his supervisor. The next time I called the police on them, the one guy who worked at Office Depot screamed each time he went, right through my bedroom window. I got another police report, and made two letters of complaint to the front office. It was the same with the kid and his pot-smoking, and playing the loud instrument with his door open in the wee hours of the night next door. Your neighbors know what goes on, but they hope the other persons does something about it, so that they don't have to deal with management, or get their car keyed. When I had words with the punk upstairs, I told him. "I better not find one scratch on my car," or the police will be out a third time. These reports and letters are what you need to break your lease, if you want to. They evicted the kids upstairs, and they evicted the man next door. I am sure that they went over the financial information of all three of us, too, to see who was the worthwile tenent to keep. Know that NRS Code 203010 convers disturbing the peace and creating a disturbance 24 hours in Nevada. It is just not 10:00PM to 9:00 AM as the past lease agrements state. Also, know that you can vacate your apartment, by putting Nevada Revised Statutes into your search engine ( this is Nevada law) and read NRS Codes ll8A 350 through ll8A-520. These are the tenent laws to protect you that the prior managment purposefully omits, making them sound like they have you handcuffed to your apartment, when in fact, it is easy to break a lease in Nevada, when the landlords don't take care of the problems, and you lose sleep and your health. That place was the beginning of my high blood pressure.
