I lived in Montebello for one year. I moved out in August, and believe me, I couldn't wait! The apartments are large and have beautiful windows in the living room, but that's about where the pros stop. We were shown a beautiful model and decided to sign a year lease. We were not shown the actual apartment we were going to be moving into until the actual DAY we moved in. This apartment was much darker and the kitchen was different. The walls are thin, so you can hear your neighbors upstairs, next door, walking outside. We could hear the toilet flush everytime our upstairs neighbors used the bathroom, and because the floors squeaked so badly, we knew exactly where they were in their apartment at all times. Our neighbors had a small dog that barked all day long whenever you walked by their apartment. When I was getting out of there, the last, but worst thing happened. We were told 200 dollars of our 500 dollar deposit was refundable, but two days before we moved out, we found out that the 200 dollar "refundable" deposit goes towards a mandatory carpet cleaning fee when you move out. THEY LIE TO YOU!!! You do not get ANY money back! I still would like to figure out what the other 300 dollar "non-refundable" deposit goes towards, if not the carpet cleaning fee. I am trying to figure out if it's possible to sue for something like this. Anyways, I am so glad to be out of there. I have lived in two other apartment complexes while I was in college and LOVED both of them. I really am not that picky, I just don't like being lied to. Please, please, please think hard about moving here.

there actually is something you can do... i went thru the same thing at a different apartment complex. You need to call your leasing office and get ahold of the management team that owns your apartment complex. They always have a corporate office and you can talk to someone above them. write a letter to this person and email it to them and they should be able to solve your problem. just thought i would help :)

I hate when they say the actual apartment is not available to view until you sign the lease, then after you sign it, your basically stuck with the place! Fu(k3rs!
