I lived at Brittany Lane Apts for close to 4 years. Rent was ALWAYS paid on time and for 3 of those years I was under 6 month rental agreements. I finally went month-to-month due to the possibility of having to move due to work. Well, for starters, I gave the office 13 days notice of leaving. Basically, told them on the 18th of July. You now have to tell them by the 10th of the month. My rent was $790.00. I get a letter in the mail that states that I owe them $1900.00. $1000.00 for penalties and another $900 for damages. This includes: $550 to have the carpets replaced. $200 for paint (which lease states that after 18 mos you DON'T have to pay for) and other minor things.

A year ago my bathroom ceiling leaked from the floor above. Maintenance person came in and fixed the leak. However, the ceiling was NEVER painted and the bathroom was NEVER cleaned from the residue of the water from the pipes. This is just an example of the business practices of the complex.

Needless to say, I'm gonna take the original lease agreement and fight each and every point listed. The business practices of the complex is shady and future renters should be cautious.
