I read all of these reviews prior to moving in, I wasnt living there during the time frame most of these reviews were posted, but the complex is under new management and I have good things to say about this complex.
I went as far as to record my conversation during signing for my apartment. I turned my recorder off halfway through it... The staff answered all of my questions about fluxuation of rent price, move out costs, maintenance and security.
They were up front about all costs, including move out fees, regarding the carpet which I specifically asked about... Understand that this is a business, if you leave a bleach stain on the carpet and decide that you dont want to shell out a few bucks to have a professional carpet company restore the carpet, perhaps you should rethink your complaint about the $1000 you were charged to recarpet a 1200sq ft area.
I have met all of the managers and staff to include their newly hired maintenance supervisor as he came to repair my garbage disposal and baseboard heater within a week of my work order. I have a black roommate so the "Racist manager" comment really left me unsettled about moving in. Amazing how when we came in to sign our lease paperwork we had a chance to meet with the property manager who was nothing but polite and courteous to myself and my roomie.
The apartment itself is spacious, the high ceilings and large living rooms allow you to feel like you arent confined. The bathrooms have a few cheap fixtures but dont detract from the upscale look, the apartment assured that if these fixtures break they would be replaced. The bedrooms are spacious, with plenty of space in our walk-in closets. All of the neighbors I've met are very nice, either friendly and outspoken or quiet and keep to themselves.
Overall, this is the first place after weeks of searching I walked into and felt like I could call home. I hope this review was helpfull and I would reccomend this complex to everyone.

The racist manager got canned a long time ago, long before you moved in just so there is a clarification.

Actually, I am a renter and the original poster. You guys can say what you want. But I've only had one issue since I've been here with a balcony cleaning that went on above my apartment, sprayed some muck down onto my nice patio furniture. But as soon as I talked to the manager... surprise surprise... They offered to send a cleaning crew up immediately.
Yea, I'm unsettled about the bad move out experiences. Yes I do get tired of the parking issues when I try to have family or friends over. However, I am not trying to say this is the best of the best places to live. But I like my apartment, the management has been very cordial and polite in addressing any of my concerns.
Like I said before, if you as a renter fail to read state statutes on the landlord tenant agreement and know what your rights are as a renter, know how to be a good renter and maintain reasonable expectations of managed property. How about you take your sulking attitude, and move someplace better, come back to this post and tell us all about this glorious diamond of an apartment complex you've found.
Sticking with my original opinion no matter what you people say. A bit overpriced, parking is a frustration (But the apartments are addressing it by removing two garage rows for more) but the management has been wonderful to work with.

I understand landlord and tenant laws in Washington state as I am a landlord of multiple properties in washinton state.
My sister is one of the people that was ripped of when she moved out of her apartment. She was billed over $2100 for cleaning and B.S. fees when she left the apartment. My sister's husband was deployed to Iraq and left to deal with the management. When she told them she did not agree with the charges, they were rude, did not respond to letters except for a letter that said pay or we will send it to collections. If they have hired new management then you are lucky to not have had to deal with the old management and maybe there's a reason for the new management.
My sister never really had problems while she lived there that she couldn't deal with. The problems came when she moved out and the dakota's were no longer collecting rent, that's when they showed their true colors. Good luck when you move out, you're gonna need it. bettter start saving money now, you never know what they might decide to charge you for. Doesn't matter how clean your apartment is when you move out. Save all you're documentaion and you might want to video tape the apartment when you move out. The video tape will help us when they try to hose you, then you can join the lawsuit.
P.S. Document everything if you really are a renter at the dakotas. protect yourself from being taken advantage of.
