This is the worst place my husband and I have ever lived. We even considered breaking our lease, which would have cost 1.5x the price of our monthly rent. We wish we had chosen elsewhere.

For one, the parking is absolutely awful! You are issued one spot, even if you live in a 3bdrm. To park in any other spot that is not assigned you have to display a parking permit, which costs $25 a month, or you can pick up a free one every day from the leasing office which is such a pain. There is no point in having a permit because no one abides by the rules-people park wherever they want. However, Whatcom Security patrols and has a few cars towed every night that are not displaying a permit. Unfortunately, we were one of them (The office ran out of passes) it cost over $300. The worst part was the the leasing office doesn't feel that they need to contact you the next morning with a phone call perhaps to let you know your vehicle was towed. We didnt discover our car was missing until 2pm the next day. If we had found out first thing in the morning we could have saved $60. However, its not "their responsibility to inform residents." We were also told we could park at the park and ride down 164th and walk !

Never park your vehicle in the street that runs behind the complex. Cars tear up and down the street all hours of the night. Cars have been side swiped and have had mirrors ripped off.

Its so loud here I feel like I am living in a college dorm room all over again! You can file as many complaints as you like... but the resident who is causing the noise never gets warned. And then there is the lovely noises of the landscapers and carpet shampooing on a daily basis. Since this complex is so huge people are always moving out. If you are home during the day and want to take a nap forget it... unless you have earplugs.

Before moving in I asked them if there had been any crime recently at the complex. They said "NO." The day we moved in there was a notice on the door that was given to all tenants. It was a notice to beware of car theft. LIARS!

Also, dont live here if you have a pet. They charge pet rent. I asked what it was for and the leasing office told us it was to clean up after peoples pets. Right... I told them I pick up my own dogs crap anyway so what is the point of paying for someone else to pick it up' And guess what, after 9 months of living here I have yet to see any staff members cleaning up dog crap... so I suppose the pet rent is going into their pockets.

In closing, dont be fooled by their "BEST COMMUNITY AWARD." It means nothing considering its not based on customer satisfaction, there was no survery that went out to the residents. Its a builders award. The staff is so rude and never helps to provide solutions to any of the problems in the building. We have offered solutions to the parking problems and they told us that nothing in their eyes needed to be evaluated and that by law they're only required to provide 1.17 parking spots per unit.

First of all I think that the Avalon poses to be great and they offer you all these great dreams that it is a good place to be and it is not. When it comes down to something happening to your car they seem that it is not there fault and it must have been some kid vandalizing cars.... The parking problem...YES THERE IS A PARKING Problem!!!!!!!! even if you have a parking permit and you follow rules....there are tenants here that will vandalize your car if you are parked in a "Prime" spot..... And if you ask the staff they will say "sorry that your car was vandalized you were parked in a PRIME spot""""""" So if you have a permit follow the rules and then you will see what happens......""""""YOUR CAR IS NOT SAFE AND IS LIKELY TO BE VANDALIZED"""""" What will the staff do? SAY Sorry ....If you have any questions POST your Remarks and we will get back to you!!!!!!!!!!!
