During the month of January 2008 my SUV was parked directly in front of the main access to my apartment. The front passenger side window was broken and my portable GPS unit was stolen. If you plan on moving to Canyon Springs please check with the Snohomish County Sheriff's Department on the number of vehicles that have been burglarized and stolen here at Canyon Springs. It is my understanding that Canyon Springs has an "above average" property crime rate, mostly dealing with vehicles.
There are dark areas inside Canyon Springs where security lighting is either not working or not installed. The two flood lights that would have illuminated the parking spot where my vehicle was parked were not working.
I can honestly tell you that I have never witnessed a security company patrolling the inside of Canyon Springs. Security inside Canyon Springs is non-existent in my opinion.
I have suggested to the office staff to purchase a golf cart and to hire a security guard to patrol at night. I doubt they will listen.

I MOVED HERE FROM EUROPE TO AMERICA.I HAVE LIVED AT THE CANYON SPRINGS APPARTMENTS FOR A YEAR AND A HALF.CARS ARE BROKEN INTO ALL OVER THE WORLD.I'M WONDERING DID YOU HAVE A CAR ALARM.I'VE SEEN MANY TIMES THE POLICE DRIVE THROUGH CANYON SPRINGS TO CHECK THE COMPLEX.WHEN YOU WANT SECURITY YOU SHOULD LIVE IN A PRIVATE COMMUNITY.BUT THAT WILL COST $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Consider yourself lucky. I have only lived here for 7 months and I already experienced my first vehicle break-in. What's next, my vehicle getting stolen or maybe my apartment getting broken into?
I agree with you. "If you want security you should live in a private community"...that goes for anyone looking to live here at Canyon Springs.

I'm sorry your car got broken into. You work hard for what you have only to have some lowlife lazy ahole come along and steal it from you. A tip for everyone is to not leave items you don't want stolen left in your car. GPS is a hot item right now and expensive and having one left in your car makes you a prime target for your car to be broken into. Just like leaving CD's, cell phone, expensive radios, laptops, etc. Unfortunately, car breakins happen everywhere, not just there and nobody is safe. If a thief wanted it bad enough, they would find a way to get it whether you are in a gated community or not. I lived there for 7 years and I never had my car broken into because I don't leave anything in my car that would entice a thief.

My car has been broken into twice and stolen once. I had to spend money I didnt have to get an alarm put on it, and do you know the office staff will allow you a rent deduction of up to 30.00 to buy the club after a break in or theft. Does anyone else see a pattern here. why would they allow a rent deduction if the crime wasnt a problem
