We recently moved out of Keeler's Corner. Shortly before we did, our car was stolen from the carport. No one at the office seemed to care when we informed them of the theft.

And after we gave our 20 days notice to move out at the end of the lease, they sent us a bill charging us for the next month's rent even though we handed the keys to the apartment manager by the end of the month. They did correct it, but not before sending a statement to our new place saying that we owed them money. In fact, they owe us money. Nearly a month has gone by, and we have still not received the deposit back. They were quick to send us an incorrect bill, but apparently they don't believe in being so prompt in repaying their bills.

All in all, we had a bad experience.

The one thing that I wish would change is the indifference to all the car thefts. I lost mine there. I only had it 3 months. The security measures necessary to deter thefts are not concidered financially viable by Keelers.

So you know, all rental companies/individuals from whom you rent in the state of WA are required by law to issue your deposit refund within 14 days of your relinquishing the keys and moving out. A reminder nudge concerning this can get them to get to work on giving you the refund. I would suggest a call, telling them you know your rights in this regard and stating the time and date you will be there in their office to pick it up.

what can they do about your stolen car? i remember it states something in the lease that it's not their responsibility (not exact words) this place is a high risk area...my car insurance went up since moving here...i see crime prevention cars partroling the parking lot almost every night i come home from work...around midnight or so.
