Almost time to renew my lease and I hope I can find a better place then this. Staff is always complaining about not having the money to do repairs. There is a big MOLD problem in the apartments that was covered only by paint before move-in by maint. I will not recommend this place to anyone. Also other tenants can not take care of their animals, as dogs are always barking during the day.

Dear Not Worth It, If there seems to be a problem in your home that needs to be fixed, you should inform the office they are really good about addressing these problems. They have plenty of money to fix things around here,I have never had a problem with them fixing anything. Where you are getting your information from is incorrect. For your comment regarding "mold", a majority of the time it is due to us-not airing out our apartments, not keeping our windows clean, and over cluttering our homes. The office has always educated me and others, who I will not mention, on how to prevent these things from happening. Hello, you are in Washington State. I have shared your comment with alot of the residents around here and since your renewal is coming up you are probably upset about your rent increase. |

I believe the resident has a true problem here. I know a person that lives in the same apartments with the same complaints. Not only does the office staff try to blame the residents for their old leaky building and leaky/sweaty toilets for the mold but they even threaten them that they will be responsible for paying for the mold damages and accuse them of being the cause by not properly addressing it. In fact it is a structural problem with an aged building with just cover-ups instead of real repairs that causes the mold to come back. You have to take out the drywall completely to stop the mold. One resident even had to move from their apartment because the mold came thru form the closet they call the washer/dryer room from one apartment to the other, it came from another residents apartment into theirs. The staff is real ---- towards you most of the time but if you happen to walk in to pay rent when a possible future new tenant is in the office they act real sweet to you. I think the staff must be keeping the money they save on repairs and putting it in their pocket because you could go door to door and hear the same complaints over and over again. They act like they are there to fix anything that comes up but when you ask them to repair it they either ignore you ever said it to them, fix it so it will break again, or say it???s not in need of repairs. I think I heard lawyers mentioned about when they have the lease end going to zap the apartment staff with subpoenas especially the repair people because they are ordered to not spend any money to fix things properly. Some sort of a building construction engineer was looking into it for them. As far as living in Washington and having mold is a poor excuse for not maintaining a building. I have lived in Washington all my life and I have never had a mold problem like the Serene Village apartments have in any place I have ever lived. It really sounds like one of the staff people wrote that comment about being in Washington. I will have to say one comment about the dogs barking during the day. So what. Dogs bark and during the day is no big deal, it???s during quiet hours that count and if you don???t like dogs barking in the day, move into a place without pets allowed. Lawn mowers, leaf blowers, carpet cleaning pumps, garbage trucks and all sorts of other things make more sound then a dog barking so buy earplugs already. Oh, and about the rent increase for the reason for moving, I don???t think Serene Village apartments are even worth staying at if they lowered the price. You can do so much better some place else and even if you do pay a little more, at least you can sleep knowing your lungs are not going to fill up with crud from breathing mold all night.

I am the manager.
First I would like to say that I am sorry that you feel this way. If there was any kind of issues in your apartment we would like to know so that we can address them instead of hearing about them on this website. For comments regarding the attorneys, is something that I am not aware of them coming down or us having to go to court. We only go to court for people who do not pay their rent. The people that you mentioned who came by to check on the property were owners, we will be doing some capitol projects, so there is money to fix things around here. As far as the comment regarding the staff making up those reviews are completely wrong. We do not put the money into our pockets, how can we, the checks/money orders are made out to Serene Village. We do have several residents who have lived here for many years and they have never complained about this issues that are being stated here. So please before making assumptions or accusations make sure that your statements are true and correct. If there is something that needs to be done in your apartment, please come down to the office so that we can do a work order. You don't even have to tell me that you were then one to write these comments.

No matter what apartment comlex you move into, you're going to have a few complaints. Nothing's ever going to be completely perfect for everyone. I just moved out of Serene Village but not because I was unhappy there. I had a wonderful time living in my apartment, and the staff is great. They are always friendly and willing to listen to you if you have a problem. Of course an old building is going to have a few issues, but I think they do a pretty darn good job of keeping these units in shape. Regarding the mold, the staff gave me an info sheet on things to avoid doing that would cause mold growth the day that I moved in and I never once had a problem. I was sad to have to leave my apartment at the end of my lease, as I had truly enjoyed being a resident there.
