Look for another place to live if you can

Watch for tricks, promises, and lies by the staff. The staff knows all the tricks to get you into the apartment. They tell you what they think you want to hear and once you have paid that little fee for a records check on every person that will live in your unit they have you sucked in because you don t want to have to pay that again at another apartment. Get anything the staff says in writing and make sure you get a copy of everything you signed if you plan on renting at Serene Village Apartments. Lets face it, it already cost a lot of money to move into a place with all the deposits and fees so we don t want to throw away our money on background checks over and over again. Make sure if you move into Serene Village that you get a unit that is not next to the moving company in the northwestern part of the complex because of loud sounds at early hours. You will have to sign away your rights too when it comes to mold, they don t want to be accountable for their problems so they pass them onto the tenants. If you have pets they charge pet rent on top of a pet deposit. The rent for the pet is written separately from the apartment dwelling. You also pay for water, sewer, and garbage on a pro-rated basis by how many people live in your unit. Needless to say, you never know how much it will cost for that bill each month because you could conserve on water all you want and the neighbor might be having their whole family come over for showers and doing laundry each and every day and you end up paying for it instead of them by the rule of head count divided up by the total usage of the utilities. The units are very cheaply built, no sound control what so ever. You can hear the neighbor s vacuum cleaner upstairs like it s in the next room; you can hear the people living below you arguing as if they were outside of your door. When someone knocks on your neighbor s door, you think it s your door so you go answer it. The windows, sliding door, and bathroom fans need to be cracked open or to run 24/7 so moisture doesn t build up on the windows, walls or toilets to keep the mold from growing at a rapid rate. It s like chasing your tail it never ends. What they like to do most is check the old repairs they made previously when tenants before them had problems and try to make it a new problem and try to blame you as the new tenant for the problem. By law if they don t or can t fix something, you can have it done by a professional and give the bill to the management and subtract it from the rent total. If you are capable, you may as well do the work yourself if you want it done right in my opinion. If you believe the good ratings on apartments listed in the other comments, then you probably deserve to live at Serene Village Apartments. Most real good places you rent at will have an outstanding record of good reviews and maybe one in a hundred will complain but you have to take notice when you see many of the same complaints over and over again in a review and then you see some reviews completely opposite in there as well, you have to wonder if it s just the staff going online and trying to keep business coming in by making up false reviews. I have read the reviews dating back for some 8 years and believe me, nothing has changed much here as far as worth goes for the money

Thank you for your post, I have been looking for aparments, thought this one "looked" good. But that is the fear of many new renters, you never know what you're getting yourself into. Thanks to people like you, we get a glimpse! :)
