Great, if you like a dungeon

Well, when we first decided to move here we were promised an apartment that was on the top floor. After we paid our deposit the next day, the management told us that someone lived in that apartment and that the only one left was on the first floor. So we settled for that. They also would not let us view the apartment because it was in the process of getting new carpet and paint. The "show" apartment looked great and we couldn't wait to move in and see our apartment.

Three days later we moved in our apartment...not good from the moment we opened the door. Actually, the door was unlocked and our key didn't work. We had to get maintenance to replace our lock the next day. There was paint on the carpet (which I don't think was new). Dirty hand marks on the walls and window sill. A hole was patched on the wall and the maintenance left the drywall crap on the carpet. There were vertical blinds that were cracked, water damage to cabinets, and the bathroom fan did not work and took a while to get fixed. There were TONS of fleas! The layout was completely different than the "show" apartment. The only windows were in the bedrooms and the sliding glass door. It felt like a dungeon. You walk in the front door, pass 2 bedrooms and the bathroom, then enter the living room with the sliding glass door. The door didn't bring in much light since there was a greenbelt behind our apartment blocking out the sun and the highway.

Noise is a HUGE problem. Car stereos blaring loudly all hours of the day and night, someone lit some fireworks in the middle of October at 11pm. The people above me dumped their ashtray over the balcony more than once. They also had a pet (rabbit I believe) in a cage out on the balcony, and when it pooped it dropped down onto our patio. My son was only 1 1/2 years old and I had to constantly clean the animal droppings and cigarettes up so he would stop trying to pick it up. Mold was an issue. Maintenance took forever to fix anything. My dryer stopped working and I had to use a dryer in a vacant apartment. They "fixed" the dryer and it still didn't work. lol Called maintenance again and they sent a specialist to clean the vents. They pulled a couple birds nests out of the vents and placed covers on all tenants vents to rid that problem. Dryer still didn't work well so they sent a different specialist in. Basically he said that the dryer was too close to the wall and he had to cut a huge hole in the wall for the coil to have room because the washer and dryer were in a closet with no room to move. First, management would not let the specialist cut a hole and told me I had to move my dryer away from the wall every time I want to use it (I was 6 months pregnant at the time). I would also have to leave the closet doors open to pull the dryer out, this caused a problem because the doors blocked the walkway from the entrance to the living room area to the front door.

After living there only 6 months, we had to break our lease and moved to Arizona. The dungeon feel of the apartment was really depressing for me and I had to get out. We had a roommate that stayed for 2 weeks after we left. We payed up to date on the apartment and I even called management after we moved to make sure our roommate did not cause any more charges. That's when I found out he paid for those extra 2 weeks and would be moving in a few days after I called. I didn't call after I was told there were no problems and he had paid. Next I get a move-out bill for $400 for trash and damage, as well as unpaid rent. If our roommate paid up to date, how do we get charged for unpaid rent' As well as his trash. My husband and I cleaned the entire apartment very well (aside from our roommate's room). Any damage or trash should have been on our roommate, but we still have to pay for it'

Trash was a big problem as well, the dumpsters were always overflowing. I think the trash man did not come as often as he should. The outbox for the mail was all beat up like someone tried to break in it. After we got new management and maintenance things got slightly better, we got a security officer roaming occasionally at night and the outside grounds got a little cleaner. That was about it. I believe some apartments had more people living in them then there should have been, or else there was just some drug deals going on and lots of people going in and out. There were always a lot of people hanging out in the parking lot, with loud mariachi music. Children running around unsupervised constantly. I had 1 kid throwing snowballs at my front door and windows. I had to tell his mother, who didn't seem to care. My sons tricycle got stolen from our back patio. And I had heard of a few vehicles being broken into.

amen. This place was the absolute ghetto! I got charged over $800 after moving for cleanup fees, and when I moved in there were the same paint splatters on the floor, botched drywall holes, paint on closet doors, etc. so please don't tell me they even really do anything with your security deposit other than pocket it, along with the money they charge you after you move out (regardless of it if is left perfectly clean or not). Ugh!!
