These aren't the worst apartments I have seen. When I first moved in the rent was $795 for a 2 room, 2 bath apartment 1100 square feet, and now it is $900 a month. Not a bad price for the space but the amenities are old (built in the late 70's) and the rooms are by no means energy efficient (Old windows, no weather sealing, etc...) they fix things fairly fast and are very friendly. We have had no problems with car break-ins and just one noisy neighbor in 2 years, so not all bad. You can get newer for a better price but not at this size. Parking is ok, but guest parking sucks because everybody else parks there over run on cars there. We are looking for a newer place now, because the family has grown and we need more room, but we won't leave this place until we find it.
